Re: Gardeners please help
Thanks for the replys. I watered them the same time every evening. If it is blight will it go onto other plants and how long before I can grow toms again?

Gardeners please help
Hi
I had 20 tomato plants in my polly tunnel. I trimmed them very hard a couple of weeks ago. The stems and and tomatoes went brown, even the green tomatoes had brown patches on them.
Is this blight or could it be something else?

Third fermentation is the one you wish would speed it up.

Re: Cider time nearly here again
I do not understand why your cider is taking 3 years, surely it can't be that it takes 3 years to ferment? Regarding oxidation, as apple juice oxidises in minutes, I don't know how you can prevent it unless you have industrial machinery that mashes the apples and presses the juice out without it ev...

Re: Cider time nearly here again
It's worked since 1890 and it worked in 2010! Only difference in 1990 they stopped putting a dead rat in the barrels.

Cider time nearly here again
With September only six weeks away I'm planning on making cider again. I'm lucky enough to have a neighbor who lent me his very old press and pulper last year and has said I can borrow them again this year. Last year we used Bramley apples with 20kg of sugar in a 45 gallon barrel, but its still not ...

Re: ...get rid of several tons of rubble?
Thanks for the suggestions all. I think the solution is probably a combination of all of them. To give an idea of what I am dealing with, the pile is about 4 feet high, 18 feet long by 10 feet wide. Sound like it a fallen down house that needs rebuilding. That's what I would try with the council. :...

Re: wasps and bees
Insurance comes with BBKA membership for up to 3 hives. If you place the hive with a fence or shed 3 or 4 foot in front the bees they will fly up over it. This will stop them flying into people who are worried about them. They will do all their collecting where the most sugar is and so very few will...
