How to improve my cider?

Hi there, I made 40l of cider last year, and it's been very dry and sharp, has mellowed a bit over the summer though I used a 60(eaters)/40(cookers) mix as couldn't lay my hands on any cider apples, and carried out the fermentation for a couple of weeks from 1055OG down to 1000OG and bottled up with...

Hopefully we will have a further 4 arrive, hoping for at least one boy amongst them to breed with our girls, as the drake we have doesn’t seem to be doing his job…… The first batc...

Padron Chilli Roulette

I managed to acquire some Pimientos de Padron, the Spanish Tapas chilli from the South Devon Chilli Farm http://www.southdevonchillifarm.co.uk I tasted these for the first time last year, and they are not too easy to get hold of, I’ve even tried to grow my own but they slugs took a liking to them an...

Re: Blight on my potatoes!

I wouldn't use it, the spores will be on it, and you'd be transferring them to the tomatos too i think
hope it goes ok

Re: rats

I did the sticky trap for mice, as they seemed immune to mousetraps, it worked a treat but was horrible having to kill them, don't think you can use sticky traps effectively outside as they may catch anything on them

Re: Would a heat mat be good for hatching poultry eggs?

I think you can pick up cheap propagators on ebay, or use their design to make your own
i think as mick says the fixed poin of heat wouldn't be great as you'd get a hot side in contact with the mat and a cold side
