Deal with the dreaded manflu!

For the second time in two months my other half has been struck down with a terrible illness and today it is so bad he had to come home early from work. The first time round I also caught this so called flu, felt sick for 3 days but still managed to go to work as well as spend several hours doing th...

Re: What do you grow that perhaps you shouldn't?

I have 2 spruce trees and a flowering cherry already established in my new garden that I haven't found a self-sufficient purpose for yet, except for partially blocking out the neighbours that is. And as for inside the house I have bromeliads, spider plants, calatheas, a golden dragon plant, a trades...

Re: prevent flour weevils?

Sounds like the flour was infected before you got it, we've always been ok to just keep flour in air-tight containers.

9? Stitch it to the lining of your curtains for insulation 10. Use it to insulate your giant African land snails tank during winter (maybe that's just me!) 11. Re: Films kids *have* to see

what about watership down??? Dear gods no, :pale: I watched that film all the time when I was little, on the one hand I loved it, on the other I had horrible nightmares about General Woundwort from it until I was about 14. I also remember watching Jurassic Park when I was 12, my mum refused to let ...

Re: 101 professions for a self-sufficientish, thinking perso

I currently work in customer services for a distribution company and it is not a good working environment. :( The office has no windows so we have no natural light or fresh air, the building is too hot in summer and freezing in the winter meaning the aircon has to be on for most of the year. We have...

Re: Gift Ideas

Not something I am ready to do this year as I have only recently started propagating, but for next year I thought about creating little natural cold remedy kits that include things like a bundle of eucalyptus bark, a small aloe plant and a jar of honey or something similar with little hand written n...

I think I can manage 9 of those...isn't Country Life that magazine that has a cover full of promise but once you open it up and look inside you find yourself staring at pages of useless twaddle and articles trying to flog you "must have" items for your home and garden that cost stupidly la...

Not so much a gift idea but I stumbled across this- http://gemdedude.deviantart.com/art/Dec ... -331655366 (credit to the guy/girl who's picture this is) and it struck me as a festive way to keep spiders away.

So according to this article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2213362/Britain-blackouts-70s-style-blackouts-withing-years-EU-rules-force-bills-warns-Ofgem.html (I know it's the Daily Mail...it's the only paper not regularly blocked here) We will have blackouts in the UK by 2015. Gift Ideas

I've just had a quick scan of the forum and can't see that anyone else has started this yet so I apologise for being the first, or if I'm not I apologise for not spotting the thread. One of my "resolutions" back in January was to be more organised about making gifts for my family and frien...
