Thank you. The tomatoes (some!) are now in a drawer in a large egg box with an apple. I have told them to turn red!

Green tomatoes
How do I get green tomatoes red? In the sun? Put them in the dark? Put them together with an apple? or banana? or what? I know I can make chutney - anything else? I have lots!

Great to meet you! I am a neighbour! Live in Denmark and have an allotment just north of Copenhagen. I can see sweden on a clear day! I live in a flat in the city but have a ”nyttehave” What are the possibilities in Sweden for renting a piece of land! (My tomatoes are mostly green!)

I’m sort of half way efficient. Write down when things are sown, harvested, etc. But also attacks by pests and the weather. I now have records for about seven years, and it helps to see what was happening in previous years. Also gives optimism when there are almost no strawberries (there were kilos ...

Parsnips are very popular in Denmark. Sold in supermarkets, but mostly as mixed veg. for soup or roasted root veg.

artichoke side shoots
One of my artichoke plants has some side shoots (small plants) growing from the base. I have read that they can be removed and replanted - but is this only in the spring? I can’t be sure that they will be there if we have a severe winter again. But maybe they’d die away from the parent plant anyway?...

New from Denmark
Well.........I Have been self-sufficient-ish for many years. But have only recently realized that I am. I live in Denmark. Have an allotment near Copenhagen. Bake bread, make jam, Don’t know a mushroom from a toadstool. And was inspired long ago by John Seymour - which shows my age! Nice to meet oth...
