Re: Extra yeast

Thank you. As soon as I realised my mistake I realised I'd just wasted yeast and it wasn't going to do anything. s long as it's not harmful. It gets racked and the sugar added next so should all be OK

Extra yeast

I'm an idiot. I'm making some blackberry and apple wine. I've got the blackberries, water and yeast in a fermentation bucket as per instructions. I've not brewed anything for ages so when the froth and bubbles calmed down I assumed the yeast had died and popped in some more to see if it would help. ...

Re: Home ed or not?

I have an attitude of I want to try it and if it doesn't work then we'll try school but my biggest concern with that is my son then going into a situation where the children at school know how it all works and have made friends already and he's an outsider. Am I causing him unnecessary difficulty? O...

Re: Recycled handbag

That's brilliant. I am def going to have a go. I can't knit but I can crochet. For some reason I got crocheting really well but just couldn't get knitting! No idea what I'll make or what clothes I'll use as I'm not done having babies yet but I'm sure somethign will come together! Thanks for the insp...

Re: Recycled handbag

So you make strips from old clothes and then use them as though you were using wool to knit with?

It looks like any normal thread - they must be small strips of fabric. Do they bend round making like a tube?

Re: Should you pay for someone else's lifestyle choice?

Just a thought about the posts from berry. My husband and I were fortunate enough not be in quite her situation but we did have some homes that were less than up to my parents-in-law standard. I was overjoyed at this though - I didn't want to miss out on the part of life when it's hard and when you'...

Re: Home ed or not?

Yes. This is one of the things that frustrates me when speaking to people who don't really understand. Whichever I decide I can change my mind at any point and go with the other. And even change t back again if I really feel that is right. There are obviously consequences to doing that but there are...

Re: Home ed or not?

I think it's not the coping I worry about - I'm confident in that and I'm confident that they'll get everything they need. I'm worried that giving them a home education will not be amazing enough to warrant not sending them to school - if that makes sense? I think I worry about it a bit too much. I ...

Home ed or not?

I know there are lots of home ed posts but I have quite a specific problem so I hope no one minds if I make another one! I'm looking for a bit of reassurance really but if it's not there and the best idea is school then I can accept that. I've got so many people who think it's their place to lecture...

Re: Should you pay for someone else's lifestyle choice?

Slightly off subject but if they have so little money then he must be getting or have had his education funded in some way? Does he need a degree for a particular job in which in the long run he will earn more money? I think the payment of university needs looking at! I went to university because ev...

Re: Should you pay for someone else's lifestyle choice?

I totally support that decision and agree with most of the advice on here. You definitely need to stop them taking you for you a ride. You deserve a life too and you deserve what you work hard for. I just suddenly felt for your younger daughter - despite her not actually being in our situation - and...

Re: Should you pay for someone else's lifestyle choice?

Everyone has put some great points and you seem to be well on your way to deciding what you want to do (although I think you already knew what you wanted at the beginning but needed some encouragement) and so that is the only reason I make this point. I don't know your situation and you've given a l...

Re: Estate Agents

I agree, it's just hard to think rationally at the moment!

I will probably leave it - everyone sees the consequences of their actions!

It's nice just to vent a little though and receive a little support, thanks :hugish:
