Re: I thought I might have found red currents...
Probably is viburnum opulus yes, red currants fruit in strings rather than bunches, and have a much more distinct look as a plant.
Plus they all finished fruiting a month or so ago, time of year is usually a good guide.

Re: Rose Hips
Not noticed any sloes but haven't been looking just yet. you do get good and bad years with sloes, if you try different locations you will find some.

Re: Rose Hips
Short of a photo it's hard to say 100%. Rose hips are usually more oval but some roses do have rounder or more saucer shapes hips. Easiest way is cut in half with a knife, if it's full of furry/fluffy irritating seeds then it's a rise hip. If using them for wine, jelly etc make sure you remove all s...

Re: I found loads of black summer truffles
There should be local shops or markets that would buy them, the going rate for black summer truffles is nothing compared to other truffles that can be thousands per kilo, I was paying 150-180 euro per kilo locally near Perpignan when I was there last summer.

Re: what to forage for on the Kent coast
Probably a bit late for a reply now but you shoul invest in a good foraging book, there's lots of shoreline plants etc that you don't get anywhere else, stuff like sea beet, sea kale, wild cabbage, rock samphire and marsh samphire for starters, various seaweeds, also seafood, crabs, mussels, clams, ...

What mushroom is this?
Looks a bit like a field mushroom, however it was growing in a crevice between a wall and a pavement and it's too early I thought for field mushrooms have a look let me know what you think. I've still very new with mushrooms despite being pretty hot on foraging plants and fruits. http://s864.photobu...

Looks 3/4 chihuahua to me and 1/4 pug or jack Russell, something bigger build, it is mostly chihuahua so will be hard to determine what else is in the mix.

Hemlock?
I've seen it in books and things to watch out for but never seen it for real, found this yesterday which fits the images I remember, is it hemlock or hemlock water dropwort? It was by a canal but other side of the path from the actual water. http://s864.photobucket.com/albums/ab210/somnophore1984/?a...

Re: Bitter cherries
I have been looking for nice wild cherries for last couple of years, found one tree but hard to pick as very tall.
Most cherries are bird cherries a not edible (not poisonous just taste horrible) and are planted for orimental purposes, largely only tell by tasting whether they are edible or not.

Re: St Georges, well i think...
Yeah they look right, fairly mature specimens, where were they growing, what do they smell like? There's not a lot else around to confuse them with at this time of year
