Thanks everybody, I will give it a whirl. I think the flowers I have already picked are a bit young but there's plenty more where they came from at the moment... (sorry for rubbing it in MMM and Henwoman!!!)

Thanks for the advice, Dunc and the kind offer Boboff!! Not too concerned about the invasiveness of it as we don't really have that much in the way of shady damp bits (!). Just wondered if the flowers I have would be too immature to harvest seed from and what I need to do to the seeds if anything......

Me? Impatient???! Er, yes, probably Maggie... I suppose I just abandoned it at the first hurdle because it DIDN'T taste nice and the texture was dreadful too - really heavy but not in a good way. I like a good heavy loaf of wholemeal bread but this just wasn't pleasant so I thought 'life's too short...

Ha ha! Lucky old Sammy eh?! Thanks Fi - may well have another go if they go off the whole broody idea again... Just slightly tricky to judge when and if they have given up on the eggs or just stretching their legs... I suppose a couple of hours might be okay? I did hear the other day that goose eggs...

Ooh, interesting... I will look this up (if I can be bothered). I think I might be getting mixed up actually - I bought some garlic recently from Lidl of all places which was one clove per bulb.
