Re: Is this realistic ?
I have dog-sat for a family I clean for. The deal was I would be able to go to work (I mostly only work til 1pm) and pop out for a bit if needed, but I would walk the dog twice a day ,before work and early eve. and be there in the afternoon so she could hang out in the garden. They paid me £10/day c...

Re: Veganism not an option any more
SusieGee, Thank you for restoring me to the forum! No I don't use the coil, but have considered it for the future (maybe not if I already have B12 problems!). I have been eating line caught fish every day for a week to boost my B12 levels, and omegas too; already the difference is quite marked. I am...

Re: Veganism not an option any more
Hmmm, well I have been tested recently for other things that might lower my immune system, and all come back good. Doc says there is no problem, but things are bad enough even friends and family are noticing. These symptoms have definately only come about since being vegan about 6 months in and gett...

Veganism not an option any more
Hello all, its been a while I have some questions to ask and a story to tell, this could be long. Basically I have been vegetarian for 14 years then vegan for 1.5 My reasons: mainly because I tried to 'ethically' source dairy and eggs and failed; the reality is you just don't know what you are getti...

Re: "Can we talk" about
Wow I usually just read the treads..not much to say, so much to learn! But the mosts here are so interesting. I was raised Pagan, became agnostic, then buddhist....now pagan-ish again. I believe in a divine-something...I had a profound experience aged 9 that has made me aware of the connectedness an...

Did you feel it? Birch polypore comes ayaw from the tree easily but the flesh is quite tough; I tried to cut one in half with a knife, it was really difficult, you can understand why they are good for sharpening knives!

Re: ...But can I eat them?
I had been contemplating this death cap and its effects, so I haven't gone as far as any in mouth tests, ie putting inside lips. I figure it will probably seem perfectly fine until too late. I'm 99% sure its a velvet shank, but that's 1% too uncertain for my liking.
Cheers folks

It would certainly be more sustainable. Imagine if you kept your own livestock; nothing would be going to waste (assuming the rest of your family like the more familiar bits). It's much richer in Iron. You can eat a good deal less for the same nutritional value (i'm over simplifying that but you get...

Fantastic! I'm off to experiment.
If I don't post in the next week I may be dead from rubbing fungus in my armpit.

Re: Should spell checkers be mandatory ?
So, no "i after e except after c" any more then ? Ha Ha! I still say that every time in my head and, more embarrassingly, have to do the alphabet song to find which letter goes next to the one I'm looking up in a index. how sad is that! I'm so over counting on my fingers though :ic...

...But can I eat them?
I have attempted mushroom foraging in the past and been too chicken to actually trust my identification of what I have found. We went for a walk today and I brought a few of these home: [img] IMG_1094 by flower_hercules , on Fli...

I've been adding flaxseeds to my breakfast for the last 6 months, but only recently discovered that they should be ground to get maximum omega benefits, so switched to ground a couple of weeks ago. Also love marmite - just need to think of ways of getting more of it into my diet, rather than it jus...

Re: It's nice to be nice
Such a lovely thread Sometime I like to imagine what the world would be like if no one stole anything, and no one harmed anyone. Think of all the freedom we'd have! and all the billions of money that would be saved from security that could be spent more usefully. No one would fear each other, or be...

Re: Should spell checkers be mandatory ?
I say could 've, would 've, should 've (I guess having a somerset accent is bad english.) and type it as 'could of' etc. But why do you say it right and then change it when you write it so it is wrong? (I know right and wrong are loaded terms! I'm not being bitchy, I'm just interested). Do you not ...
