Home made yoghurt

Hey I love eating yoghurt but am aware as to the amount of sugar it contains. I don't eat soya so thought I would try making my own yoghurt from the various types of alternative milk. I tried carton coconut milk and also unsweetened almond milk and followed the method of heating, adding some live yo...

Soya milk

Hi - wonder if anyone can give any advice about soya milk. I am trying to cut out sugar from my diet and so decided to stop drinking dairy milk as I didn't realise how much sugar it contains so switched to soya milk and after a while got used to the somewhat cardboard flavour! However after some res...

Re: jam sugar v granulated sugar

jam sugar v granulated sugar

Hi I am going to attempt an elderflower jam and the recipe asks for jam sugar but i have loads of granulated sugar in the cupboard, will this work? The recipe i am using is just infused water, lemon juice and sugar. After a bit of looking around at other recipes people suggest that i would need to a...

Re: Why is my fudge too hard!

Thanks Jon and Bob - i did try a different recipe that uses evaporated milk and on two occasions it has not set, but like you say Jon it makes a delicious sauce and original to eat fudge with a spoon! I will keep trying and using the advice above and i am sure i will get something that is the right ...

Why is my fudge too hard!

Hi I thought i would have a go at making fudge and followed the recipe as provided by carnation milk using the condensed milk. I have followed the recipe exactly on two occasions and both times the fudge has come out like a brick! Some recipes have said that it shouldn't be beaten at the end if it c...

Re: "Sometime life's a bitch"

how awful - it's the same when dog owners fed their dogs loads of junk not realising the harm they are doing - it makes me cringe everytime i see an owner with a fat dog waddling - why?
