Re: All things yarny...

Go for it! It's just a matter of straight knitting, all the way. Either in one colour or the other. Not difficult, but it does look impressive!

Re: All things yarny...

Thank you Julie!

The only thing worse than knitting the second sock was the thought of NOT knitting it, and having it festering in a corner, looking at me, and stopping me from enjoying any other knitting until IT had been done.

Re: Hand Spinning Yarn

Sorry Meg, I don't have any brilliant suggestions. But I see that someone called Meg has asked this question on Ravelry too, so I'm guessing it's you! Hope you have more joy there... I didn't get on at all with spindle spinning, but spinning on a wheel is a whole different kettle of fi...

Re: The lost art of conversation!

I've been thinking about this. And talking to OH about it too. We do occasionally have conversations :flower: I don't necessarily know that it's to do with politeness... I think much of it is to do with the fact that a huge proportion of communication these days is not face-to-face. People text, the...

Re: The lost art of conversation!

Yes, I've definitely noticed this. I think that a lot of people are so wrapped up in their own lives, their own thoughts and feelings, that they don't pause to think about others. This shows in many ways, but one of them is in the lack of conversation you've noticed. Talking to other people, once yo...

Re: All things yarny...

Thank you Stickweaver! Yes, they took me quite a while - but I can usually only manage to knit for about 20-30 minutes a day, so some projects do go on for quite a few weeks/months. But these took ages 'cos they were (I hate to say this) sooooo boring to knit! I'd never really done any colourwork be...

Re: All things yarny...

Thank you for the lovely comments! I love knitting socks - which is just as well, as I'm taking part in a small Ravelry challenge to knit 7 pairs this year. I'm onto pair No 5 at the moment, so right on track. Let's wait until I've got some weaving to show off, before anyone starts feeling inferior!...

Re: And my second post...

Thank you! I've only started spinning in the last 6 months, so I haven't even thought about selling it yet. I spun some blueface leicester into an aran-weight yarn, knitted a bag from it and felted it - there's a photo of that in my other post. But at the moment I'm just gently queueing things up to...

Re: Moving country to be self sufficient

And... after a gap of over 18 months, I'm back! (Only now I'm MyLovelyHorse2, as I couldn't remember my old login...)

Glad you're here in the Corrèze, Clanpowell. Us too, and it's brilliant. I'm off to go and read your blog, to find out what you've been up to!

Back in a new guise...

Hello all I used to be a regular in here, under my old name of MyLovelyHorse. Then I moved to France, changed email addresses several times, couldn't remember my password, and have now rejoined as MLH2! We left the UK at the end of 2010, and are now happily installed in the Corrèze. Loving our new h...

And my second post...

In a bid to take over this part of the Board altogether, here are a couple of photos of my handspun yarn.

All things yarny...

Hello peeps! It's a long time since I came here (in my previous guise as MyLovelyHorse... I have no idea what my login details were, so have registered again). Since moving to France, just over 18 months ago, I've been rediscovering the joys of knitting. I'm in sock mode at the moment. Here's the la...
