Gnocchi with the most amazing ragu sauce ever made from toulouse sausages and tomatoes with fennel seeds and some dried herbs from summer AND psb and kale smothered in butter. Mmmm Celebrating tonight because one of the places I work just got some funding  . Happy happy.

Re: What interesting or unusual edible plants have you grown

I know someone who grows kudoo specifically for it's shading properties in a polytunnel so up and over a pergola so she can use the space beneath for growing spinach and other things that like to bolt in a tunnel in the summer months. V worthwhile and they're bleeding expensive to buy!

Daubentons sounds interesting, might have to seek that out as we are kale junkies despite doing battle with magpies over it. Grr. Will give yakon a miss then we have j.artichokes, more than we can eat so seems like a non starter.

Re: What interesting or unusual edible plants have you grown

I grew achocha a couple of years running. You get a fair bit from them and they're very easy. We ate the young and thought they tasted a bit like cucumber. Not the exploding variety though. You can buy the seeds from www.real seeds.co.uk. Has anyone tried growing yacon? Thinking about it this year b...

I'm liking this a lot. Do you think you could get that kind of temp with cow poo and straw? I know chicken poo creates some serious heat but no chickens on our site at the moment.

Hello all. I'm now managing one plot for a youth group / community centre that I work for and have 2 half plots of my own that I work on with my girlfriend and a friend so the time has come for us to buy a poly and greenhouse to give us a fighting chance of starting off enough plants and to extend o...

Re: Guide to growing chilli peppers

Reckon it will work well for anything that needs an early start. We're going to struggle with somewhere warm and bright to continue to raise th...

Re: Brambles

Well done him / her. In our case it's def' just kids ( we know because someone has seen them climbing over the gate) 3 sheds and a greenhouse set fire to in one night :angryfire: Makes you fume. One of the sheds had a can of petrol in for a strimmer so they're lucky they didn't cause themselves some...
