Re: Bonjour from France

20 years? You are indeed well established then! I have a couple of jobs this year around Agen, never been before so looking forward to it. We are in our 7th year now and are well settled in and integrated into la belle vie.

Salut Caroline,

We keep chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, rabbits, pigeons, sheep and Pigs. We still long for a nice red juicy beef steak though!!

Re: Inventors Corner

Vacuum pump for gutting Chickens. Attach it to the rear end, press something and voila all the innards removed in one swift pump. No idea how to make it work though. Ideas man only. :-)

Re: Storing goose eggs

We keep our Goose eggs in a dark, cool place for around 2 - 3 weeks before we place them either back under the Goose or any broody chickens.

Re: Bonjour from France

Hi Caroline, thanks for the welcome. We are based in the Limousin region, I am assuming you are from "up North" around Sologne perhaps? ;-) Looks like you have got a nice little project going on there, I've liked your fb page so I can follow your progress.

Re: Should you pay for someone else's lifestyle choice?

Not an easy situation to get out of. It might make it easier for you if you sat down with the both of them and had an emotional heart to heart to explain how this is affecting you and how you feel about people taking responsibility for their own lives and these are the reasons why you do not want to...

Re: Purple Sprouting Broccoli

Thanks for the reply Jerry. The warm summers hence running to seed sounds like could be the cause so will try and find a better variety and plant later. Has to be said though I do warm to the idea of smuggling purple sprouting transplants into the country :-) Iv'e heard of drug runners, gun runners ...

Re: Bonjour from France

Thanks for the welcome thrifty. Nice article on Madeleines. We saw that programme too and a Madeleine tray is now on our list of "things to buy". BTW I tried to like your facebook page from your blogsite but for some reason it didn't appear to work, I had to manually go into fb and like yo...

Re: Purple Sprouting Broccoli

We love purple sprouting Broccoli! Unfortunately for the past 6 years here in France we have had nearly zero success in growing it. When we lived back in the UK we never had a problem. Anyone got any ideas ? Miss that veggie so much...... :(

Re: seed potatoes

We've just been discussing this one ourselves. We have in the past always bought seed potatoes but they do get to be quite expensive. After much reading up on the internet I am much in agreement with Zech's comments that the risks are probably overstated. Spuds are prone to disease and that's why yo...

Re: Scalding Turkeys

We always scald it's just sooooo much quicker to get those feathers off especially with ducks and geese. We normally set the water boiling first thing in the morning, take the dogs for a walk and then kill a batch of birds. So roughly by the time the birds are all dispatched the water is ready to go...
