I potted seeds from small leaved basil in spring in regluar potting soil and kept them in south window sill, with a bit of organic fertilizer. We had more than enough basil through summer until they died this autumn.

Here's an odd one: We have these cylindric dome shaped glass recycling stations with "portholes", so I told my niece they where stranded flying saucers which had run out of fuel, and they where collecting bottles and jars so they could sell them to purchase more fuel.

If you're having a large slug problem Muscovy Duck (Cairina moschata) are slug eating machines!

They love slugs and will eat all they find.
