Re: washing machine BBQ

Most impressed MF, These washing machine drums have loads of uses, here's one I used as a filter for my hydro turbine. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd170/camillitech/050608006Small.jpg and here's one I used as a base for my mates hydro turbine http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd170/camillite...

Re: Midges

Hi AP, I did think long and hard about a zapper as our little corner of paradise is really sheltered and like you say anyone who's not experienced the 'wee devil's' just can't comprehend the suffering they can cause. Much as I hate them though they do keep the bats and swallows fed and the people th...

Re: wind turbines,... please help!

Hi Jay,

http://www.scoraigwind.com/ Hugh Piggot's site is full of useful info and well worth a look. We have a couple of turbines as we're of grid. I did consider building one but as we have no mains to fall back on I took the easy option and bought them

Good luck, Paul

Re: Midges

Having lived in 'midge heaven' for over 20 years and tried everything I can quite honestly say that there is only one cure and that's one of these midge tops. Whilst some repellents do work, I've tried them all and found Avon skin so soft to be the best they will not stop the wee beasties getting in...

Jandra's method knocked our rabbit problem on the head years ago, if you bury it too deep they can jump it and if you can still get real creosote please tell me where from as the replacements are poop.

another football team

Bramble one of our two Tamworth Sows delivered a fine second litter of 11 strong piglets today. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd170/camillitech/160508010Small.jpg She was due to farrow in 3 days time and we'd not finished getting her new quarters ready as I'd been delayed by having to dispatch ...

My mum makes brawn to die for Stoney. It looks disgusting but the Dude and I love it though mrs Cs not that keen. Great post by the way, me I'm frightened by doing the sums as I know it's costing us plenty when you take in capital costs like trailers, fencing and arks but then we do it for the quali...

Is there a human equivalent of Frontline? I know of people who have used this in extreme situations, but I'm not sure it is recommended! same here I know shepherds who use 'Spot On' but I don't fancy that at all who Knows what it will do to you in 20 years time  Me I work on the theory that ...

Ticks are a real problem here and barely a day goes by between april and october without me having to remove several from wife, child, or meself. between us we have had THOUSANDS of bites and had several heads left in and go bad. So whilst the risk of Lymes is there ( a friend has it ) don't blow it...

Have you thought of west coast of Scotland or Islands much cheaper, more grants available, more renewable resources, far less crime. downside the rain and the dreaded midge :(

Nice Pollack SH,

they call them lithe here, I've been getting my lobster pots read and plan putting them out tomorrow. Though I've not actually caught/shot any bait yet so if I don't get a rabbit today or catch a fish tomorrow it's the tin of cat food trick
