Re: Nowt doing

Why is that? With people having spent so much time at home, you'd think there'd be more activity than normal, not less.

Re: Too early for plum moth trap?

I put the trap in the tree about a week ago and there are some moths stuck in it already. I've got chickens pecking around the ground, will I still need to put a band around the trunk to stop the grubs climbing up?

Re: Cherry tree help

I was digging nearby and dug up a root, it was damaged by the spade so I made a clean cut with pruners. Will it be alright to bury it back into the soil? Will it now cause damage to the tree? Also, I've noticed ants going up it even though the leaves are still only in bud - is it too late to put a b...

What is there to get rid of light fluff on black laundry?

I'm looking for something to put in the machine that will remove light fluff and cat hairs from my black clothing, synthetics and cottons. I've seen something that's to be used on pet bedding but it might discolour my clothing so I don't want to try that. Then there's a rubbery item that hairs cling...

Codewords puzzles

Has anyone any tips on solving those codeword puzzles, the ones that look like crosswords and they give you a few letters to start with.

Re: Blackberry in pot

I'd thought that being a blackberry to grow at home the branches wouldn't grow so unweildily long, so that was a bit of a disappointment, apart from anything else.

Blackberry in pot

Hi, I've got a Long Reuben growing in a largish planter outside that has not been successful these two years. Is it because the roots are restricted, I'm not feeding it enough or could it be to do with pruning? I'd really like it to work out next summer if it can be done. The one in the ground did s...

Re: I don't think I like Gooseberries

Hi, I grew a red Hinnomaki, tried them off the bush and they didn't taste like gooseberry should, so at the least, the flavour might be the problem. I had a gooseberry bush on the allotment that was already there so I don't know what type it was, but it was the usual sort. And it was delicious, not ...

Jotters

Hi, if any of you remember those A4 or foolscap brown, recycled-looking jotters we used to have at school, do you remember the brand or where they can be bought, if they still can be?

Can any potatoes be planted now, in December, in the ground or "containers"?

Plumbing problem

Hi, I'm trying to find instructions on how to undo the pipe that comes out of the back of the loo and bends down into the floor. The pictures of toilets see on the internet are different, mine is simply as I described, not enclosed or anything more bendy. I'd like a link to a webpage or youtube page...

Cushion COVERS

Why is it so hard to find Christmassy cushion covers only, without the cushion? It strikes me it would be less wasteful to be able to buy the covers to pop over normal cushions temporarily and then store them with other seasonal items until the following year. I don't want to pay for the whole cushi...
