Tomorrow will officially be E's first day not in school. The local schools all go back and she is almost 5 so would otherwise have been due to start. We had always (since getting pregnant) thought we would home-educate but it seems like this is a big milestone for us. Anywhoos.... Recently,...

Re: what to do with a glut of eggs????

I have a sign on my door for eggs, I don't leave them out, but I stick the sign up if I am about and we have a glut. You could pickle them? You could make them into lemon curd? (but when I worked it out, I would have needed to spend a small fortune on lemons) You wait for them to go off and sell the...

Re: Favourite board games.

I wonder if our choice of favourite games is a reflection of our personalities Wulf goes for a co-operative game where you try as a team to cure world-wide diseases. I go for a game where you individually strive for world domination and even the throwing of the dice can become violent. ummmm..... :s...

Re: rotary line or washing line?

I plan on putting in a rotary line.... but yes get a heavy one, with 4 bars (some have only 3) you can fit more on it and it is quicker to hang out and bring in the washing.

Re: Gooseberries

I eventually picked the gooseberries, they had very little give in them and hadn't changed colour :dontknow: I'm pretty sure that it's at least a month since they looked ready to pick...

But the rasps and red-currants were ripe and we now have a very small pot of mixed berry jam

Re: living on a tight budget

Just thought I'd update since this has popped back up again. We are managing to stay within our £50 budget pretty easily. (though I need new shoes and I don't know where the money is coming from) Every Monday I tidy the pantry and the fridge and check the freezer, then I do a meal plan for dinners a...

Re: The haar

Well there we go then.... I have rarely seen anything as heavy as the Haar in the West, nor have I seen it travel inland the same.... it travels right up the Forth in the East. It was my Sister that reckoned you only get it off the North Sea cause it is colder. I'm not pretending I ever lived on the...
