Kumara can be grown from either the shoots or the whole kumara, but the usual way is from the shoots, which can be bought from a garden centre. It is really easy (and much cheaper) to grow your own though. This involves selecting one or more disease-free kumara (just make sure it has no blemishes or...

We get grugs like that here, but we call the huhu grubs. The beetle grows humongous and can fly. Some of the beetles can grow up to 75-80mm long and about 15mm in diameter. And yes I have eaten the grubs fried in butter.

The double yolker did have two yolks of even size, but there was more albumen than normal. The hen that laid it is about 30 weeks old. One of the other hens that had stopped for the winter had started again, but the egg was only about 25mm. I should have kept the big one to compare it with.

Hi Adekun. This coming season will be my first crop. I got the plants from a friend of mine. I planted them and they grew great. About 1.5metres. I built a raised bed of 150x25 timber as my place gets very wet in the winter. There are two season types of raspberries, summer harvest and autumn harves...

Hi Fee. When I was a kid my mother put eggs into a gelatine type stuff and the eggs kept for a long time. I can remember it being in a four gallon tin that had a secure lid. If one of the eggs went bad there was a horrible smell when the lid came off. When you put them in the stuff, I think you have...

Hi Possum. Try looking for a set of fuses. Not sure if your stove has them, but we use to have one. The fuses were in the back of the upstand.
Some oven elements just push in. Give it a gentle pull and see if it comes out ok. Or ring an appliance repair firm and ask their advice.

Phosphorus

This is from a gardening guru, Wally Richards, here in Christchurch, NZ PHOSPHORUS When we buy plant foods or fertilisers for our gardens we see on the products the letters N:P:K followed by numbers which indicate the amounts of each of these elements. The NPK stands for Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Pot...
