Is it easy to get to your place via public transport from Glasgow? If so, my sister and I could come and give you a hand for part of the weekend...

Re: Yaaayy, free christmas tree!!!!
Some lovely ideas here - I'll nick them for my tree too! If you have any wool hanging around, you can crochet your own tinsel. Works best with the glittery, feathery wool that you can get cheap in Wilkos or pound shops. Really easy and lasts much longer than normal tinsel :)

Re: Want to leave teaching and don't know what to do
Hmmm, yes not much call for art tutoring I guess... Perhaps you could teach English as a foreign language? There's a big call for that. Especially if you live near a university or college with lots of international students. Anyway, I know it's easier said than done, but chin up, and try to relax an...

Re: Want to leave teaching and don't know what to do
:hugish: :hugish: :hugish: Don't know if I have any useful advice but as a teacher I know how you feel. I left just over a year ago and had a baby (without maternity pay) and I know I was lucky that I'm able to stay home on my husband's pay. That said we are very poor and live frugally. I still some...

Re: Bathing babies - how do you?
He mostly comes in with me. It's so easy and it works well even when he was tiny. He can breastfeed in there too if he gets hungry! Then DH takes him and I top up with hot water and have a soak  He likes the baby bath too especially now he's happy sitting up (with me holding him) - he h...

Re: 'Ish Christmas
Sadly it seems to be quite common to spend that much. On another (mummy) forum that I frequent the amount to spend on Xmas was a topic. The figures were similar. I was shocked!thesunflowergal wrote: Mum 1: How much do you spend on your kids at Christmas?
Mum 2: About £250 each.

Re: HANGING CLOTHES TO DRY / news article.
My mum lives in Calgary, Canada is it's also forbidden to hang out your washing there. She doesn't take any notice of that and goes ahead and hangs it out anyway (at least in the summer - in the winter it's usually -30 so not really good drying weather!)

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?
Helsbells I completely agree with you. However, as a currently BFing mum myself, I don't feel comfortable with other people seeing my breasts. I carry a nursing cover and use it most of the time when I'm out. I don't think that mums should have to use one and I don't think they have to try and hide ...

I'd probably take that as a compliment :) Although I agree that it's bit strange that she thinks growing veg is a particularly female pursuit...

Midsummer celebrations?
So we are coming up to the longest day of the year... Just wondered if anyone was planning on celebrating, or had any nice traditions for midsummer? I feel like I want to mark the day in some way, and it would nice to have some inspiration :)
