Living Lightly: Travels in Post-Comsumer Society by Dorothy and Walter Shwartz. I bought a copy about ten years ago after being sent a flyer claiming that the book included 'an exclusive interview with Peramculture co-founder david Holmgren', which consisted of about 2 paragraphs... Basically it's t...

I went and had a look at their plot yesterday - still seems to be being worked, though of course much of the weed growth has returned. What I did forget was that they got a brand new shed thrown in - lucky blighters!

I wasn't criticising you Fee fairy, but am slightly dubious of the quality of the stock in these places - I've seen current bushes being sold in Wilkinsons in Southend high Street and they do look rather sickly. They are being kept ndoors with no natural light, warm conditions which they aren't used...

Just wondering, are these bushes as sold in Lidl, Wilkinsons, etc named varieties?

Personally I'd prefer to give my trade to the specialist or independent growers, or better still, take cuttings from establhsed stock :)

Sadly, now I am left with the conclusion that the featured family cannot be that serious about growing their own organic veg, if they did not attempt to get an allotment. Then again, the program seems to have twisted some facts, perhaps the family only wanted to do the water recycling etc.... who k...

ok I stand corrected then - but i think it might have been more usefull to say 'allotments are easy to come by in this area, and we got one just like that' The fact the bloke was surprised about the lack of waiting list means either he wasn't trying very hard to be organic etc, or an allotment is a...

OK, seen it now, downloaded from UKNova, I must say that the program seemed to focus far more on the rich folks and their impressive build project rather than the lowly Hunts and their humble allotment, in fact the latter folks seemed almost incidental, i wouldn't be suprised if we don't see them ag...

Re: its not easy being green - new series

9. Share your surpluses. what you give away will always come back threefold. I gave a friend cuttings of a worcesterberry bush a few years ago. When my bush died I was able to get new stock from the plants my friend had grown on...
