Solar panels
Hi everyone, I haven't been around here for quite some time so I hope you don't mind me hopping on and asking a question or two. I was chatting with someone today who suggested rigging up solar panels to car batteries. Do you think this is a good idea? Would it work in a 4 bed home? How much of our ...

Re: It's been a while
Thanks for replying Flo, Tony and Maggie, I still do odd bits here and there, growing potatoes seems to have become a yearly tradition and we have an apple tree which meets our needs for a couple of months of the year. I do most cooking from scratch and try to get the children involved in everything...

Re: Would you ever burn nappies in a woodburner?
Just looking back at the messages on this thread and noticed I posted a suggestion of using washables. It makes me laugh becuase now I have a child of my own and have used almost entierly disposables! Little did I know back then what a faff washables were compared with disposables.

Missing plums
At this time of year I normally pick bags and bags of wild plums from some bushes near me, went to the place yesterday and there were none at all, not even any rotting on the ground. Just wondering if anyone knows what is going on here, has it been bad conditions for plums in the South this year. I ...

Maybe my family is dirtier than most but I found they didn;t clean things at all, there was still a sweaty smell after being washed. I was disappointed.

Re: Salvage shrunken wool jumper
Sounds like it has shrunk but not fully felted. I would felt it fully as others have said, unpick the front from the back (or else they might felt together) then put them in on a hot wash. I would make mittens or slippers with it. Lovely!

Re: The Elephant in the Room..........
geez! Really making me question eating meat when I can't be sure where it came from. I suppose you could probably tell if you were eating a horse steak rather than Beef, but what about sausages, clearly there is no gaurentee that my A**a extra special sausages don't have meat other than pork in, so ...

Re: The Elephant in the Room..........
I wonder if this mightn't be a problem if we ate British meat rather than importing/exporting it all.
