thanks Mmm. :) i'm not too concerned about getting great compost, rather composting our waste, mostly kitchen waste. it's just not having much to compost and seeing stuff go mouldy that concerns me. perhaps i need to add more cardboard. if i can get away with just kitchen waste and paper and cardboa...

ok, thanks for the clarification... so something, like leaves, being completely dry and brown aren't necessarily Brown... good grief. so look for brittle slightly woody stems.... got it... i think :)

Brown stuff needs to be a bitmore than dry, a bit woody will do (or cardboard even? bit of shredded paper) Best is always horse poo, can't help but mention it! no horse poo. like i said previously, i have plenty of hand torn paper and cardboard. the only other thing i have are weeds (nettles mostly...

hey guys, you inspired and encouraged me to finally start. so we bought a water butt, with a great lid. i have so much kitchen waste, and am loving being able to do something with it. but the lack of Brown is worrying me. lists says straw is a Brown (carbon)... but garden waste is Green (nitrogen). ...

okay, this is really helpful. I had no idea a bin liner could be used! So that or a water butt, or anything similar as long as we have holes in the bottom. Got it. I've taken a look at various photos online and it seems one thing that can easily be made at home. I think just some sort of tin, as howie mentions. And perhaps a tight-fitted disc thingy with a handle to push down.

Might it be successful and beneficial to compost paper separately? It's that recycling initiatives where I live are facades.
