Re: DC Immersion Heaters

Cam, I bought a 2kw 48v immersion from www.tpfay.co.uk. They are expensive but it looks like a good product and its stainless steel not copper which is great as i have slightly acid water. As soon as i get someone to come and cut down the trees that currently stop any chance of generating watt numbe...

Re: DC Immersion Heaters

Contadino, EXCELLENT choice. Home made is well made, less chinese bean tins more real steel. Repairing this cheap chinese tack is neigh on impossible. I have one here myself (for sale) and i would never hope to rely on it. My homemade turbine does however offer repair possibilities. I don't have the...

Re: DC Immersion Heaters

Hi, I have been looking into the Kipoint inverters and they seem to have a good rep. I'm going to get a 3-4kw Kipoint square wave for the shed, will be fine for tools. As for running the house of the pure wave... I wonder if anyone has experience of using large UPS chassis for inverters? That are pe...

Re: DC Immersion Heaters

Hi, There is a company on ebay selling larger inverters at 48v from Taiwan. I don't know if they are any good though, but they are not cheap items. But they are cheaper than anything you'll find here. The turbine i have was custom made as i could'nt find one that actually did what it said on the tin...

Re: How can I make a cheap Pelletizer

Hi, I don't have a pellitizer but i do have a briquette maker. A friend of mine made me up a stainless box about 10mm thick with a follower to fit in it. I use a 10 ton car ram, its manual powered so no compressor needed. My idea was to use the bottomless supply of saw dust my joiner neighbour makes...

DC Immersion Heaters

Hi, Has anyone here actually got one of these? How well does it work? I have a 48v 2.3kw turbine in the post and was hoping to use it for house energy but my inverter blew up for no reason :-( So now i am left with 48v DC to try and use. Anyone got any ideas what i could do with 2.3kw at 48v? Answer...

Re: Pure (True) vs. Modified Sine Wave?

Latest, Well my 300w modified is on its way out having never seen the light of day. I asked an electrician friend and he said "anything the buzzes when you put current through it is dying a slow death." So i bought a fine Pure sine wave inverter from ebay second hand (not used tho) for £12...

Hi John, Was it one of these you got.... http://www.vertar.com/battery-chargers-conditioners/car-battery-chargers/optimate-iii-sp-charger-optimiser/ If so did you use it to revive batteries that the wind turbine killed? Or just batteries you found. I'm not so sure on the physics of reviving batterie...

Pure (True) vs. Modified Sine Wave?

I'm hoping soon to get my A. Lights (CFLs) and B. My heating circulator off grid. I only have a modified sine wave inverter and i am told this is not good for CFLs. Has anyone tried this? What happened? The pure inverters are mega bucks and if possible i'd like not to buy one. Ideas & inovations...

.

I managed to find some good used car batteries today.
4 x 55ah each.

I'll give them a go and see how long they last.

I suspect the plates will wear thin but i only paid 30 euro for the lot so not bad all round.
