Wear a wolly hat as a loy of heat is lost through your head.

Jam making

If you happen to be making jam which does not have much pectin in, instead of using water use cider. There is pectin in it and will help to set the jam easier.

All my toms which were outdoor were hit by early blight this year. I was lucky to have 15 plants in the greenhouse which escaped. Most of the cherry varieties seemed to have the best resistance to the blight. I will also grow Ferline and Shirley.

If you live in the UK you will not be able to grow tomatoes even if you have a greenhouse. The light levals will be too low and there will be too little sun plus there will not be enough day-light hours. Better to wait until next year when you can start your seeds early. I started mine on Feb 1st an...

Cut out some shapes from felt pieces (sold in bundles in stores) and stick or stich them on. Its less work than embroidery. You could do snowmen, trees, angels, oe even the childs name and stick the letters on.

I grew a mixture of toms this year as well. Got early blight but found Ferline to be mostly resistant to it. Am making sure this is on my list of ones to grow next year. have also found the cherry varieties have some resistence as well.

Congratulations, you have made the first move in liberating yourself from a life of being nailed to the cooker. I suffered a little bit of that when my kids were growing up. When they got married there was'nt a peep out of them. They ate all that was put in front of them.
Keep at it and don't give in.
