Powder made from ground up plant fossils, very sharp. 54 Vermiculite. add water so it swells up, place around your plants. Much as the slugs like the water, they dislike the movement. 55. Puree a ...

I might be entirely wrong about this, but I thought Scotland was blight-free, for some reason, hence most seed potatoes come from there. Or have I just been sold another yarn? Anyway, welcome Clarabel. Blight is carried by aphids. The seed-potato growing areas of Scotland are very windy so relative...

Im off for a cry, I dunno if Ive got it in me to clear the whole thing again and THEN plant :( Clear a very small area. Turn it into a se...

Get a push mower! My dad bought me one as a thank you present, about thirty pounds IIRC. I am using that all over the allotment. It is set to the highest level of cut, so it copes with all the lumps and bumps. Been using it a week and none of my dandelions are in any danger of flowering. Carpet squa...

The best marrows I ever grew were from a plant which had been dropped, ignored and became surplus to requirements. So the whole thing got thrown on top of the manure heap, along with a huge pile of grass clippings. Once the roots reach the manure, I would expect the things to suddenly shoot away. Ma...

Biodegradable soap will only degrade when it is in contact with soil. So storing it in a butt will not remove the soap. Provided it is not too alkaline and you are not using it on acid loving plants (blueberries) then storing it has no positive or negative aspect. The 'solids' will tend to sink so y...

I missed half of it.. but saw the lavender thing... now I've read that recently on one of the forums... thought it was this one... but yes.. brilliant indeed. I rescued some 'old' plants from the garden centre yesterday, but have to say that they were only half price and not dirt cheap... still, I ...

Wasn't it just!
Loved the trick with the Lavender plant.
Bury it up to its neck and leave it a couple of months.

End result... lots of new plants.

Re: POINTS RAISED.

 Hi Chili Monster. (1) some of my supporters have said, there's nearly always empty spaces on plains and ships where my plastic containers and my wooden carrying beam could be put without adding any monatery terms to it,if it's shipped abroad. Re: SOME ANSWERS?

I live in the South East of England where we have had a lot less rainfall on our land than where you are I don't think so John! You also don't have the same temperatures as France. Remember the heatwave in France 2003? The drought in France (and other parts of Europe) in 2005? Planting in container...

Find out how much the stove weighs. It will probably need to be over the axle of the van, with some form of reinforcement to the floor. I have seen traditional romany vans and barges with wood burning ranges. They are actually smaller than the household equivalent. Don't know if that makes a differe...

Re: SOME ANSWERS?

We also have people who go around late at night and take things,we call them thieve's in the South East. And any pallets that make up my pallet plot I've ask someone if I could have them. There are degrees of theft! If you have a skip and throw stuff in it, then pay someone to take it away to landf...

Re: SOME ANSWERS?

 Hi Oddballdave and Millymollymandy,my simple answer to your guestion is again,I put what ever I can't re-use again in the recycling bin. JRP. That's what I thought. Well it won't work round here (Telford and Wrekin). They can only recyle CLEAN plastic. So you have to wash out milk cartons...
