Advice needed wth growing first time chillis & tomatoes

I'm wanting to grow both chillis and tomatoes this year however there are some constrictions. Firstly I will be doing it all indoors due to a lack of outdoor growing space, is this a feasible option for me? Heating isn't an issue the room they will be in is kept very warm all year round, and there a...

Re: Rabbits??

If you can actually hold the rabbit (as opposed to hunting) then I always found using a priet on them to be the best way, it's fast and causes no mess.

Re: Rabbits??

I've wanted to do this for a long time, however I only have a small backyard. What kind of space do they need hutchwise? I know I could squeeze them in, but i'd rather not have them at all if I can't provide some kind of decent life. The only way I can concieve is to stack the lot, thereby having fo...

Advice for a very warm windowsill needed

I'm after some ideas on what to grow in one room of the house. Due to the animals kept in there, the room is kept at a day/night range of 70-80f. I've two windowsills, one is around 2ft, the other around 3ft. My first thought is a chilli, but I can't think of many other things that will happily grow...

Re: Oil lamps

Should work fine, the only things you need to ever think about is the original use of the oil and if it now contains anything toxic. Obvioulsy that would give off dangerous fume, though to be honest I can't think of anything other than industrial uses that may taint oil.

Good excuse to drink beer - OH would be happy

Any type you want, as long as it's still in a liquid form then it should catch a flame. In theory you could even use a solid oil base(the type chip shops use), this would make it that much safer when not in use.

Oil lamps

Not a new idea at all, but a good way to use up any kind of old oil you want. (rngine/cooking/etc) Simple take a can (beer is best :drunken: ) cut out a small window roughly halfway, then chop the top section of a second can and insert into the first. Fill the false bottome with oil, bend the ring p...

Advice on discovering alc/vol?

Ok so I have the first batch of ginger beer soon to become ready, however I have no way of knowing the rough alcohol content. (other than the drink till you sink scale :P ) So is there a way to get a rough estimate of a brew? Here's a quick recipe if it helps. Half pint of water, with half a tspoon ...

I'm with the folks who paunch straight away on this. You have to remember that hanging was from the days before firdges and such, in addition the methods used to kill were far less damaging than today. This meant you were safe to hang game as its internals would be intact. Unless your snaring, netti...

Citrus seeds?

Ok so I figured that it might be worth a go to grow some lime and lemon seeds from a few fruits. (would only throw them away so nothing to loose)

I know the conditions needed for that actual plants, but i'm a little stumped on what would be ideal for germinating the seeds and the initial aftercare?

I'm going to be using in to knock up a few kendal mint cakes, but after seeing the amounts for distilling i'm probably going to go with muddling it and straining instead.

Ah see what you mean now, got any ideas one rough ratios of leaves to oil production one can expect? Had a quick look about and i'm guessing it will be pretty low, so I may endup going down the route of muddling instead.
