I agree with the good lady above! A tenacious terrier or a good ratter-cat. Sometimes the local Cat Rescues have some ex-farm-cat-types that are ideal for smallholdings. My mate who has a tree nursery recently homed a couple of cats from the Cats Protection people and they're doing a grand...

Animal traps
I was walking on the moors up in Nidderdale a few weeks ago and came across some odd-looking things that looked like animal traps. They were wired to the top of drystone walls. Don't suppose any of you erudite lot know what they're for? The moors are managed for grouse, if that's any help. Here's a ...

I love music. And, *cough* there are some bands and tunes that sit uneasily with my self-proclaimed sensibilities. Like... that latest Girls Aloud song! My eldest daughter likes this stuff... And as I've not seen her for three years until last week, I can put up with any amount of c...

It only seems like yesterday that us Greenies were extolling the virtues of Bio-fuels over fossil fuels. I just can't keep up...  Yes, things have certainly changed. When i started running my car on veg oil 5 years ago, a litre of new oil was about 42 pence in asda. I went in there ...

The Smallholder magazine often has quite a few ads regarding smallholdings for sale. (Most of them seem to be in Wales and the Welsh borders, for some reason ).hamster wrote:Am I right in thinking Permaculture magazine (and possibly smallholding magazines as well) have adverts in the back for property?

Seals eh?! Them bastids are responsible for... erm.. Yeah, loads of stuff. Like eating fish and laying around a bit. Sh*t, that could be half my mates~! Club them all into oblivion! Them seals...
