Someone has offered to do a little digital photo shoot so I can show you all the new place. mountaingirl :cat: You can post pics as long as they are linked to an external site. I plan to make it so you can and we will host the images but a...

As I said most of the food items I purchase form T***o are cheaper to buy than grow or produce. However, I...

I will bake my own bread, grow pumpkins to make pumpkin pie in the winter. Anyone got any other ideas for making real savings, a lot of stuff in tescos is re...

:flower: Firstly thank you Nev, Andy and Dave for your kind wishes and I am very hopeful for this house, it is smaller than the one I have now and has far less garden and no trees or hedges but it is out of quasi-suburban cattle-country and up into sheep country (with some cattle) so I am going up i...

Re: Cruelty to plants?

I was wondering if anyone else feels a little twinge of sympathy every time they pull a seedling out by the roots when thinning? I swear I can hear tiny little cries every time I do it. I thinned some leaks out yesterday, and left some of the thinnings lying on the surface. Today I noticed that eve...

:flower: I think its great that people are in a position to downzize, cause if I downsized much more I'd be an amoeba! That is of course because fate has placed me in a position of poverty. I live in the countryside always as remote as I can get and always until the landlord needs the house for son/...

Maybe we should just go ahead and make our own. I mean internet television is starting to take off. I could use the self sufficientish.org name that I own to air a few video clips of how to do stuff. The end of this summer I am planning a move to Bristol into a house with a garden (first time in 4 ...

In which mountain girl may have a house

:flower: Yep, you heard it all before but this time it looks as though I almost certainly have a house in the mountains......since I wrote this I can now confirm I do have the house. Good points: lovely late sixties early seventies interior with a 'hunter' range in a nice biscuit (light tan)colour. ...

:flower: I dont see why not. Of course it would require a younger cast.....and hopefully that would not go along with the tackyness of a lot more recent programming. But there are major issues here to be discussed albeit through comedy/drama. A new 'Good Life' could really help the British public co...

Electric generation from home fire?

:flower: My friend has a boiler at the back of her fire but I wondered if a small steam pipe off that boiler calibrated to a high pressure could drive a dynamo and so add to the houses energy?
