Re: Solving drainage in a productive way?

I'm doing the "where's the like button" thing now! FB brainwashed! Anyway, we have two cherries, a ‘Stella’ AGM: Sweet, self fertile, dark red fruits for picking in mid-summer and a ‘Morello’ AGM: Self-fertile with dark red fruits excellent for preserves and tarts, heavy cropping, late season for ha...

Re: Making pasta

Wow, that was a serendipitous freecycle find! I guess I've had my pasta machine 25 years. It certainly doesn't owe me anything. Sometimes it doesn't get used for weeks, then it's used every few days again. It makes lasagna, tagliatelli & linguini but doesn't have a ravioli maker, I too use a pasty c...

Re: What interesting or unusual edible plants have you grown

I agree asparagus peas look pretty but not worth growing. Had some success with sweet potatoes both last year and this but not a huge yield given the greenhouse space they took. Crystal cucumbers were nice, and cape gooseberries. Grow quite a range of heritage tomatoes and much prefer the big beefst...

Re: Kefir cheese

Couldn't be easier, just ferment and strain for cream chese type. Heat and strain whey for riccotta. There's lots of info here http://users.sa.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html http://www.keywriter.org/kefir.html http://www.seedsofhealth.co.uk/fermenting/kefir_howto.shtml Forums: http://groups.yaho...

Kefir cheese

Ta da! Made my first kefir cream cheese. It's very good 'though I say it myself! Picture kefir grains & kefir in progress with my first cheese. Also made a tiny amount of riccotta with the whey.
