Fantastic cake Boboff - I especially like the wording. Makes my idea for sticking a few sweeties on the top look a bit sad.... might have to have a re-think!

Re: Roasted red pepper, red onion and Tomato soup recipe;

As someone who has just taken hours and hours to sew together some simple knitted slippers because she sewed almost every seam wrong and had to unpick it - I can identify! Thanks for the laugh, I needed it. Reminds me of when my son was little and I would be trying to knit something, only to be dist...

Re: Tis the season to be......

What you must understand is that people who behave like that (also cut you up at the lights, barge into queues etc) are just very very important and special and don't think like the rest of us. The likes of us could never understand their lofty motivations.... (My partner has another explanation - b...

Yes,I have used them. You do have to be very selective. Some of the stuff is near or past its best before date but we've had no problems with it and the website allows you to check the dates before purchasing. I signed up for email update - you do get an annoying number of emails but it means you do...

Re: who's got the oldest singer sewing machine on here??

I think I have some of those attachments - though mine didn't have a manual so I had to send off for a modern facsimile of the manual to find out what they all did! Some of them look like instruments of torture! How lovely to know the history of yours, as well as to have all those original accessori...

Re: Tips to keep your extremeties warm in winter

I like newspaper insole and then a wool felt insole on top of that, along with two pairs of socks. And it helps if your feet are warm to start with (but that can be hard to arrange in the winter!).

Re: who's got the oldest singer sewing machine on here??

I've can't trump 1896 - mine is from the 1930s, I think, one of the classic black cast-iron singers with gold decoration and a wooden base with a little extension table that clips onto the side. I love it - I find it deals with my thick hand-made felt much better than my modern machine (which tends ...

Re: handmade xmas ideas

The little bags of herbs sound lovely, and you could include a few recipe cards with them - maybe different herb mixes for different recipes? Maybe a few themed cards - three recipes for chicken, or three for pasta dishes or whatever? Make the recipe cards look pretty and tie them up with a bow! Peo...
