Re: Am I deficient in something?

random though, if you've had these problems before changing your diet maybe ask your doctor to check your thyroid? I have no medical qualifications, this is just a thought.

Re: how long should/did you breastfeed for?

no, in some cases it's baby on one boob and toddler on the other! lol Tandem feeding is quite common among extended breastfeeders (considered over 6/12 months depending on who you talk to). There is no "should" when it comes to duration of feeding, apparently the age for weaning in nature is between...

Re: un-vaccinated children

I am personally in favour of immunisations. Imagine how you would feel if your daughter experienced a miscarriage because you chose not to immunise them against measles, or your grandchild was born with a heart defect because you opted out of rubella immunisation for her. Or if your son caught mumps...

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

This has now been changed, under the sexual discrimination act you can breastfeed a child of any age with the protection of law.
In Scotland we have a Breastfeeding Act! Shame it's done nothing to increase the breastfeeding rates!

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

no.. please enlighten me? :) It's another forum, mainly about babywearing but there's a whole section on attachment parenting. I have found in a lot of people I meet who formula feed that they have tried BFing but have been given appalling advice or no support and many of them really regret not suc...

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

More often than not the problem comes from other women going by stories I've heard. I've been lucky in the 6 months I've been feeding my son that I've never noticed any negative comments/looks.
Boobs are there to feed babies (if you are able).

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7175/6756569733_4eafd96595.jpg You really can't see much, either by using breastfeeding tops/dresses or two tops (top goes up, vest underneath goes down). The more women breastfeeding in public the more it will become normal. It's daunting to begin with but when you ha...

Re: Recommended reading fro natural childbirth

Glad you are feeling prepared! Being informed is the best way to ensure you get the birth you want or understand the reasons why you are not able to birth the way you choose. Useful to know that you can opt for monitoring rather than induction if you go over and you're being pestered to get induced.

Re: Recommended reading fro natural childbirth

I was going to recommend Ina May. Have you looked into Hypnobirthing? I also did pregnancy yoga and a birth workshop. Natural Mamas forum has a pregnancy section with good threads. Baby and Bump forum also have a Home and Natural birthing board. I unfortunately didn't get the natural birth I had hop...

Re: Freecycle (love it)

It's a wonderful thing! We've passed on so many things from TVs, fridge freezer etc to a mobile charger from a lost phone. I've also received great things like loads of seeds, reusable nappies and most recently three breastfeeding tops which would have cost over £80 new!!! It's really nice to intera...

Forth valley didn't fare too well, although we personally were ok, watching neighbour's fence cartwheel down the street, power cut for 3 hrs (missed internet more than anything)
