Re: Labels

While we're on this topic..

Any reccomendations on good stalinist glues for sticking your own labels on bottles?
They don't need to last for ages,Maoist glues will serve me just fine.

Re: What have you got brewing at the moment

Thanks!
Some of the brew was stored in old port bottles, but I've been drinking more plonk than port lately
So I ran out of proper bottles.

Re: What have you got brewing at the moment

Just bottled my very first elderberry port,8 litres of it.
Drank the remaining 3 glasses with the missus.
This stuff is surprisingly good...and potent. :drunken:

Can home-made wine be stocked in screwcap winebottles?

Recently found a couple of little treasures. :king: Keats;collected poetical works. Kafka;Der proces. Edible mushrooms of Europe. Clive Barker;Everville. And a truly odd early 90's book full of cocktail recipe's...and large pin-up photo's of models with mainly huge hairstyles. And venetian blinds,ne...

Re: Is it just me but.......................................

Yes,mostly. Just had to jump in and mention Hertog Jan grand prestige though. A rich, bittersweet barley wine,10% alc. and one of my winter favorites. The rest of the commercial dutch beer market doesn't have much surprising good stuff. Some smaller local breweries do come up with some true gems now ...

Re: frugal start to 2011

Made some garlic toast, and had some good wine and herb cheese with my wife. Lit up a modest amount of fireworks to scare away the evil ghosts for the next year. (my wife is pretty strict about that, she's part Indonesian and they know what the stuff is really for... ) Currently on the second ...

Re: What are we all having for dinner?

We got a good deal on a sizeable lump of raw ham yesterday, so I grilled it up on the turnspit today. I grabbed some rosemary from the garden, and mashed it up in a pestle & mortar with 3 big cloves of garlic, black peppercorns and seasalt. Smoothed the mix with some olive oil and rubbed it all over t...

Re: What have you got brewing at the moment

Just had a quick taste of the elderberry wine project. Most,if not all of the added sugar is fermented. It tastes fruity, dry and, well, ''full-bodied''. But judging from the minute bubbles that continue to form the yeast is still active. Just added another cup of sugar to see if it will start ferment...
