Re: Letting Agent advice please

Thanks for sharing with us Mrs F. Unfortunately you are part of the squeezed middle. Plus of course you have a husband - now if you didn't you'd get free rent, free CT, ............... I'm being slightly hypocritical as I benefit personally from the fact that the country supports single paren...

Re: Please send.......

Hi Loobylou (that's a name from my childhood!) - how did it go????? :dontknow: While people are sending good vibes, can my son have a few for his GCSE results tomorrow. He's desperate to go to a particular college and needs decent grades to get there. He could have worked harder, but he had a really...

Re: Letting Agent advice please

Glad it's resolved itself. You say you can't get tax credits, but have you checked whether you are entitled to housing benefit or council tax benefit? Even if you can't get that, have you checked if you are entitled to free prescriptions (also glasses and dental)? There are different income levels t...

Re: Christmas Cards

My office does a collection for charity now and lots of people do that instead of cards. I think it's partly an age thing, I've got some elder relatives who would be gutted not to receive a card. I use it as an excuse to catch up with people who I really want to keep in better contact with, but life...

Re: Is this a good thing?

I too vote to keep it. Although I have had some very strong (negative)thoughts about some of the recent posts I can't see it does any harm to be shown both sides of any argument. I dislike when it gets personal, but that's when I like how well the moderators do their job and step in!! I also like th...

Re: First not going to school day

I hope you and E had a memorable day. If I had my time again I would have organised my life so this were a possible option, my third is very academic and thrives at school, but it was not such a positive time for my other two. Do Education Otherwise not have anything you could adapt for your purpose...

Re: I think I'll.......

Nomada - Looks like you're the only one in the thick of it - wishing you a peaceful night. I'm trying to hold onto my house in a village 10 miles from the city at the moment , and had considered downsizing and moving back into the city. The extra each month on the mortgage to stay out in the sticks ...

Re: I think I'll.......

My daughter was in Birmingham last night when it started. The local radio reporter was out talking to people all night. In 10 hours he spoke to only 2 people who were there for a cause - the others were just looting. The news is not reporting it accurately (why am I not surprised). One nasty aspect ...

I'm lots later than everyone so far, but got really excited to find the first ones here today (and someone told me where there are wild raspberries too)

Re: Is it possible - Christmas Potatoes

Hadn't even thought about trying for Christmas potatoes (last year I tried normal summer ones in bags on the patio - really not worth all the effort) - but tempted to try on in the conservatory now - will report back.............

Re: Dry Your Washing Without the Tumble Drier....

I'm really lucky to have a floor-to-ceiling glass conservatory - that and a clothes horse suffice, but in deep winter I still have to put it around the radiators.....

Confess to still using the tumble drier to soften the dried towels though!

Re: Favourite board games.

I like Yaztee (probably not spelled correctly!). But my favourite is the one we always end up playing in caravans, You need a pack of cards, and then actions for when someone puts down an Ace, King, Queen, We always end up with different ones, and then once we've remebered what we are supposed to be...

Re: Hyperhidrosis, anxiety and depression *help*

I've not got any practical advice - the plan you have sounds like a good start, but wanted to send you kind thoughts and support. The doctor's really should pull out all the stops once the S word is used. Try to see the fact that he has opened up to you as a step forward, at least now you know what ...

Re: which tea?

Not exactly a "which tea" - but can anyone tell me if you save enough money to make it worth the effort of using tea leaves rather than tea bags? Unfortunately my son just likes Tetley while I like English Breakfast or Earl Grey, so the economy in using a pot won't apply to me. Also - I've seen the ...
