Re: The oil cleansing method - cheap, eco and rather darned good

I know this is probably a terribly old fashioned thing to say but why would anyone want to stop washing their hair! I use organic chemical free products only but the idea of not washing my hair frankly leaves me ....... well itchy! am I missing something here. Well some people swear by no...

Re: Cloth nappies

6 is fine for me, given that right now it's reliably 30 degrees and breezy, a nappy can dry in a couple of hours and I tend to wash twice a day, once in the morning and once in the afternoon - but I have far more, which I'll need come winter.

Re: The oil cleansing method - cheap, eco and rather darned good

I've done it before and it's wonderful....somehow I always get lazy and go for soap and moisturiser though  I've been meaning to get back on the wagon, perhaps when the lovely weleda stuff OH made such an effort to buy me runs out... I really want to go no-poo too, but I'm a bit frightened of ...

Re: Where do you sell your secondhand reusable nappies?

Thanks for the PM, just checked my nappy stash and I have more than I will ever use I reckon (excellent drying weather here means I probably only need about 6 and I've far more than that already!!). So please offer them around xx

Re: Where do you sell your secondhand reusable nappies?

I might take some or all - just PM what you want for them and if you know rough weight per nappy ( so I can work out if it's gonna be expensive to ship them here). Otherwise, I'd have a look at the other listings on ebay and see how they are advertised, perhaps you were too explicit about their seco...

Re: Other people's children

First, let me say I don't like guns - any size or shape, water or bullets. Had I had boys, they wouldn't have had any at home (just like my gal wasn't allowed "my little pony" ) I had that idea with my son. Then one day when he was still a toddler, his father (my ex) took him to his grandpare...

Re: Other people's children

Let it be understood that I don't necessarily think either of those behaviours are OK, but Thomzo didn't ask for advice as to how to deal with her children doing those things but how to deal with being on the receiving end. I was trying to give her advice as to work out what she wanted from those si...

Re: Insect bites

IME if you want anything to work you have to get it on immediately (I'm one of those people insects love), so perhaps best to carry whatever you find that works with you at all times. I'm having really good results with EO of Lavendula latifolia (spike lavender) rather than the regular Lavender (ang...

Re: Other people's children

So, come on guys. What should I do in these circumstances? Should I just shut up and let these kids do whatever they want or is there a way I can let them know that their behaviour isn't acceptable without causing upset? As in all cases with kids I think it's important to pick your battles wisely.....

3.1 - and it was virtually all travel. As the site doesn´t ask how much of your power comes from renewables I just zeroed all my appliances (except for gas).

Re: Milk?

We only get UHT here as there is no dairy industry, we get President which I reckon is a french brand and you can certainly get it in carrefour here. It's been a bit of a battle with my OH over this one as regular UHT costs around 60c/litre, whereas organiccan be as much as 1.90!

Pressure cooker risotto! Madhur Jaffrey has an excellent pumpkin and sage pc risotto recipe, can't post at the moment but you might be able to google it.
