Re: New year . New craft room.

Lol - love the idea of a new craft room. Last year I just gave up and moved myself into the small single bedroom so that I could use my large main bedroom as a craft room. Much more practical than wasting all that space on just sleeping!

I can't wait for the piccy of the lampshade.

Re: Want the dream!!!

Hi Tree  Don't be put off. But it's great advice to start small. What can you afford/have time to do now? There's loads of ideas on this site about where to start, small things you can do to get going, stuff to grow in pots. No point buying a huge plot of land if you don't know how to grow cre...

Re: How do we feel about artificial meat?

I mentioned that the radio report I had heard said that it was a more efficient way of producing meat but it didn't really say how it was more efficient. Has there been any details of how this meat is grown? They are animal cells after all so what provides them with the energy to grow or is it just...

Do you need to take out the Aga? They can sometimes be converted to solid fuel.

My first fig!

sda - why not try one stalk? It it's too tough or a bit bitter don't bother with any more. Mine's in quite a shady spot so it goes on quite late.

Re: @*!%@*** Royal Mail

We got a letter adressed to My and my wifes first name By the Gravel Quarry Drimoleague [my local village] An update on my poor little lost birthday card.... Suspecting it was too big or too heavy for a standard stamp, I'd taken it in to be weighed and measured and was told that it wo...

Re: @*!%@*** Royal Mail

Sadly neither was tracked. One was a present that I'd made and the other was a hand made birthday card. I've learned my lesson now. Presents will be sent with tracking in future. It costs a bit more but worth it.

Re: Can you recommend a good climber

Oooo - reading this with interest. I also have an ugly wall. It's not mine so I have to be a bit careful what I put up it. It faces south but is heavily shaded by overhanging trees so is also quite dark. I was looking for something self-clinging as I can't really drill into it for trellis or support...

Re: How do we feel about artificial meat?

I watched an interview about this with the scientist who is developing the process. He admitted that animals will still be required and they will still be slaughtered in order to obtain the initial stem cells. Vegetarians need to beware that the 'meat' isn't as cruelty free as the media is making ou...

I'm gutted. For the second time this year a hand-made bespoke gift has gone missing in the post. What are Royal Mail playing at!

I've just googled - they are soooo cute. They look like a pig-shaped sheep.

Re: Pond Bottom Covering.

DND - what a lovely idea. It's a stunning pond. Back to the original question, my pond liner is brown on one side and black on the other. I chose to use the brown side. It looks a bit more natural. I then added stones from the garden. The bottom of the pond will silt up very quickly and the wildlife...

This thread always makes me feel so inadequate. I was feeling quite pleased with today's gathering but compared to you all, it's pretty poor really. I picked:

Redcurrants
Blackcurrants
Gooseberries
Garlic
Strawberries
Loganberries
Physallis

Re: Taking delivery of a dehydrator soon

Ours look just like grape currants of currant bun fame, but a lot more seedy and a lot more aromatic. Now there was me thinking that the dried currents that you buy are just that - dried currents. I thought that grapes became sultanas and raisins depending on which colour they were. I've found that...
