Re: Alcoholic Elderflower Champagne

Haven't read this whole thread, but I will be cracking open the elderflower champagne this evening! Excited! John Seymore's recipe though not Dave's. Will report back on the results.

Don't plan on staying in this house for 25 years so can't see it getting to that point.

Re: What to ask for for my birthday

Ooooh all such good ideas, now I am really confused! Hmmmmm, Don't think mum n dad would be willing to fork out £400 for a kitchenaid mixer though I would love one, I did think as well about getting a hand grinding mill.

What to ask for for my birthday

So my birthday was actually a few weeks ago but my mum and dad have said they would like to get me something, or give me money. I don't want money because i am pretty sure it will end up going on everyday life or something for baby and I want to get something for me to improve my selfsufficientishne...

Re: Stupid Plants

Salsify - as with Jerusalem they now grow everywhere, AND they were useless skinny things, had to peel most of it away to get to the edible stuff, really not worth it.

Re: Allotment fees.

I pay about £30 a year for 15 by 30 foot allotment. There are taps for every row of allotments (about 20 plots). There is a shop open something like one day a week selling gardening stuff, never used it though. No toilets.

Re: Chickens? Even though deeds to house say no poultry.

Our house is freehold. Funnily enough I asked the neighbours a few years ago if they minded me getting chickens, they said they did mind because they were too noisy. I swore I would get some once they moved. We have new neighbours now on both sides, we get on fairly well with both, though one side a...

Re: Chickens? Even though deeds to house say no poultry.

We have a mortgage so it wouldn't be an eviction, but not sure how the prohibition could be enforced if someone objected.
I do have an allotment but it is a good four miles away so not great if i have to go there every day. Hmmmmm things to think about. Good point Rosendula about DS running in poop!

Chickens? Even though deeds to house say no poultry.

Reeeally want chickens, but the deeds to our house say no pets other than dogs and cats and specifies no poultry. I am sure the neighbours wouldn't mind (or notice) but could I get into trouble? Also can I cope with the work and the fact that our garden is only about 20 foot by 25 foot ish?

Re: safe alternitives to harmful beautie products

I am not sure I could bear going no-poo! I get a VERY itchy scalp when I have used anything other than head and shoulders which I have used every other day. I hate having greasy hair.

Re: 101 ways to earn a little extra cash

An unenvious situation,my niece has just had her first baby, and is in the same boat, got to go back just to pay the rent. Bit dire, but wouldn't it be more lucrative on supply?..at least you'd have more time at home. It would be more lucrative oldjerry but Supply is almost always short notice, i.e. t...

Re: 101 ways to earn a little extra cash

I am going to keep my beady eye on this thread, I am currently on maternity leave and have to go back to teaching 4 days a week to pay the mortgage unless I can find some other way of making £600 a month. REALLY don't want to put DS in a nursery or with a child minder.

Re: safe alternitives to harmful beautie products

Hi Demi, I am trying to use only natural toiletries too. I have been using natural oils on my skin for about 2 1/2 years now, currently I am using a moisturised ffrom a website called Akamuti, they are based in Wales. They make lots of different types of moisturisers made from things like bees wax, ...

Legal requirement to display address for online selling?

Hi everyone, Wonder if you can help me. I have read a couple of times and someone is telling me on Etsy that as a UK seller I am required by law to display my address to sellers. I am extremely reluctant to do this because I am a teacher and would not want my pupils finding out where I live. Has any...
