contadino wrote:No. You can't support any financial vehicle (rent, mortgage, debts, etc..) from a smallholding. IMO.

Re: Creating a smallholding

I notice you're in Scotland where a distant bell ringing somewhere in the recesses of my brain suggest there planning laws may be different in this regard, perhaps something to do with crofts ... may be a blind alley, but maybe worth research...

Re: land to share

Excellent idea ... just hope the council, tax-man, legions of pen-pushing civil servants don't put some type of kybosh on your idea (I'm sure this used to be a free country) ....

Perhaps I'm just getting cynical ;)

Good Luck

Permaculture books

I'm asking for reviews rather than giving them... Can anyone recommend great books on Permaculture? Is ' The Earth Care Manual: A Permaculture Handbook for Britain and Other Temperate Countries - Patrick Whitefield ' at £38 on Amazon worth the price? Is ' Permaculture in a Nutshell ' at a fiver a be...

I think the forecasters got it wrong again - at least in South Wales, today (Sunday) was supposed to be stormy, wet and windy, instead (so far) it's calm and sunny...

Re: our smallholding

A great idea ... running courses seems like a potential income stream.

One concern I'd have would be around looking after other peoples livestock and its welfare - how would you deal with sick / dying animals when the owners are absent, uncontactable or have just lost interest?
