I love Home Farmer but now that I have been subscribed two years its kinda repeating itself, unfortunately... but I like the layout and the readability of the articles. Nicely written and with a sense of humo...

What magazines would you recommend to me, taking into account I live in netherlands. I don't have animals, and a mini (2,5 by 2,5 metres ...

Re: Small holding share

darn, I live in the wrong country.......
but how about using helpx or wwoof, to get things going and get at least help. I know its not what you are looking for but the amount of work is also something to take into account.

Re: Bokashi A-Go-Go!

there are sources on the interwebs how to make such an system yourself...most of the times its two buckets/ bins fitting into each o ther, one with holes in the bottom and a fitted tap or a cork, with a snap-on lid.

Re: Bokashi A-Go-Go!

yes I let it mature in the bin for at least two weeks or until it smells fermented.
then I digged it in. so just UNDER....not in a trench.
maybe that was the problem?

I hand dug it over all again. now I have put the second bucket contents into the compost bin. third one will go in t...

Re: Bokashi A-Go-Go!

Also here in netherlands, I ordered my Bokashi set two weeks back and the first bucket is now half full already. It feels SO GOOD to finally be able to do this, instead of turning all organic matters in the green bin that is picked up fortnightly. So far no smells at all. I do also have a compost bi...

Re: a farmers life for me - bbc

I have found it very interesting to follow this series and see who won! Definitely all the contestants had their shortcomings, and well, you can always learn from mistakes you make. Hope Ray and Jane will be smart enough to come up with some solutions, and its good they will receive one year support...

mango jam problem

in the april issue of home farmer magazine is a recipe for mango jam and chutney. I made both. the mango jam has a problem and I don't understand what is wrong. I did everything as the recipe said, cooked till mango was soft, and then started testing for set. even after half hour fiercely boiling st...
