Places of interest

I was wondering if there was any support to have a section on interesting places to visit and places to stay, green campsites etc. I know that there has been a discussion on the likes of the Earthship Centres but I only heard about it and visited it last Easter and I think it is worth a peep. Also p...

Hi Thurston Garden,
My mum has used chest freezers to store the horses food in for the past 14 years and not had any problems - apart from my sister loosing her house keys down the back of it! So I would say its a pretty good idea.

Decided to wash hair this evening and already feels like normal. Slowly does it.

We have just recently got plots in Carnoustie. 2 weeks ago in fact!!!  We were the only town in Angus (Scotland) that did not have any council owned allotments. A few people got together went to the local papers, attended council meetings, wrote to the council - generally gathering l...

Hey Hamster, Its good to see something like this happening. I have never been to Africa but tuned into Radio 4 Woman's Hour one day and heard about what women and girls have to go through when they have a period and don't have any money or resources to cope with menstruation. They can be treated app...

One week in and I'm permanently wearing a Buff on my head (best piece of neckwear clothing I ever bought!)

I'm beginning to crack and the shampoo bottle is calling. :(

Hi Beatsworking, I would agree with Annpan about making some bags is a good idea. I think giving them away for free though could be used to your advantage and get you some good publicity for your business too. Make the bags based on the morsbag pattern - free on the internet, sorry can't remember th...

i Annpan, I think they set out labelling to confuse us don't they! :? SLS stands for Sodium Lauryl sulphate and SLES is Sodium Laureth Sulphate (or Sodium Lauryl ether sulphate). They are members of the same detergent /surfactant family, with slight variations in their chemical formula and structure...

Freezing your excess?

I know you can leave things like leeks and tatties etc in the ground until you are going to ea...

I didn't see the countryfile episode - abandoned watching it long ago as their choice of articles no longer appealed to me. I don't trust any sort of testing done on the TV. I cannot believe these vet students could not tell the difference, and chose the intensively reared chickens! Just a wee bit e...

Its great to hear so many positive things about abandoning shampoo! It has never occured to me before but seems so natural, and it helps to know that you are not the only one thinking this way. Helbells - I have been using Green People shampoo for quite a while and recently I have found my ...

Hair washing test

I am thinking of not washing my hair for six weeks to see what happens. I use shampoo without any SLS etc. every other day but I am finding my scalp is really itchy and I end up looking like Ogra from The Dark Crystal. I have read some articles on the net about how bad shampoo is for your hair and t...
