Re: Bread Pudding

My mum soaked the bread in milk and didn't use eggs. She also sprinkled the surface with sugar before baking and this set into a caramelly crust. (Wiping the drool from my chin as I think about it.)

Re: Save Our Ancient Forests

Dear Boboff, Yes, we do live in a managed landscape, and if we would like to keep Englands' green and pleasant, green and pleasant then we have to continue the management. However, commercial interest has first loyalty to profit for shareholders and will manage for the short term interest not for co...

Re: Save Our Ancient Forests

Dear Spuddle,

Already signed the 38 degrees petition and written to my MP. (Fat chance of persuading him, but then something has to be done) Typical of the tribe that are in Parliament to sell off what belongs to the people,

Re: Jumble sales

Dear PBF,

Jumblies? Haven't seen one advertised for years. People seem to carboot and charity shop rather then give stuff to jumblies these days. Most of our reading matter and kids clothes came from jumble sales in the dim and distant. Can't think of the last time I saw one,

Re: Sell out UK

Dear Oldjerry,

Were you insulting pigs by comparing them to bankers? Or the more sensible suggestion that as pigs eat anything, bankers should be used as protein supplement? Wouldn't want anything too toxic in the meat though ......

Re: Sell out UK

Dear Susie,

Did you read this bit in your link?

"Stanley Fink, a hedge fund manager who was appointed the Tory treasurer last year in succession to Spencer, gave £1.9m......"

Seems like the man has the right name,

Re: Sell out UK

Dear Zech,

Just read your link. If it wasn't true it would sound like the labyrinthine, corporate world of Wiliam Gibson cyberpunk plots. Just goes to show we don't need conspiracy theories, reality is scary enough. When are enough people going to realize it?

Re: Uncontacted tribes

Dear Nomanda,

Yes, very like the "civilization, terms and conditions apply" thread we had here some time back. How depressing.

(Apologies for the typos in yesterdays' post but it was written in haste.)

Uncontacted tribes

Heard this on Radio 4 Today programme. http://www.uncontactedtribes.org/ Lovely pictures of interest to many her I'd have thought. However, President Garcia of Peru denies that there are uncontacted tribes and is about to allow loggers, miners etc into this area to destroy the rain forest, and ther ...

Re: Wikileaks revealing details of tax evaders

Dear Cocobelle, It comes as no surprise to learn that there is evidence of large scale tax fruad by wealthy individuals and multinational corporations. What does surprise is that it might see the light of day. It is not in the interest of governements to let us know which influential people are chea...
