Personally where I am in Cornwall I would plant them. Provided your soil is warm, which it will be for a couple of months here, they will establish a bit in that time. They will also get the best possible start in the spring. Provided of course they are not tender ones! In that case they'll die, but...

Or in a more conventional sense you need to deep plough first to turn the grass 8 - 10 inches below the surface, then rotavate in the spring before planting. You will get more weeds through the first year, but as your crops dominate and shade out the weeds, they will become less and less. You could ...

I picked about 60lb this year! Lest the rest, I think the birds liked mine!

It's been a great year for Wildlife, so many more Butterflies, Moths, Dragon Flies, young Robins etc.
