Radish ponderings
That refers to me pondering radishes, not the radishes having a good old ponder! Are the leaves of radishes edible or worth eating? I know you can get radish leaf which is grown for the production of leaves over the tuber, but are the leaves of those radishes grown to produce radishes any good for e...

Re: Started walking again!
That's what I love about walking and cycling down remote country lanes.... You can sing as loud as you want!!! Good effort on the walking front! Doesn't it feel good? I once walked 6 miles to work, and felt elated afterwards!!! Nowadays I get the train and then cycle two miles uphill to work (Takes ...

Re: living on a tight budget
Just a few quick tips (I'll find time to read the whole thread later, it's very interesting and useful!!): -Buy a PitRok. I think they're about £6 online, but last at least a year, and work really well in my experience. Saves so much (Money and waste) on deodorant and antiperspirant. -Buy condensed ...

Re: Goji Berry or Wolfberry (Lycium barbarum)
Wow!! Looking good!! I planted one this year, and it dropped many of its leaves in the few weeks following the planting. It is still alive, but it didn't flower this season. I imagine it is developing its roots this year, to perhaps flower and fruit in a subsequent growing season. I might never find...

Re: Make essential oils?
I've never heard of a Buddleia essential oil. As it's so prolific I would imagine it would be quite common if it were of any therapeutic use. Yeah, good point! Also, I think the scent compounds, whatever they are, might be quite volatile (because you can smell Buddleia from a long way away) and sho...

Re: Hyperspace memories
The scent of the flowers of a variety of Astilbe caled Europa thrusts me back immediately to some undefinable moment of my childhood for some reason... The same goes for certain Cherry blossoms. I think my primary school must have grown these outside my classroom. So these plants, for me, smell just...

Re: Mint sauce recipe please
My mum taught me about a recipe her grandmother used.... Chop up a load of mint, add some sugar to taste, and some vinegar... Just normal table vinegar, to get it to the right consistency for your liking. If you like it hot, you could add some cayenne pepper! In fact, does anyone know how you would ...

For me its Earl Grey (Lose tea) any brand will do! I like it with cheese and crackers. Ahhhh... Earl Grey. Although recently I am enjoying Sainsbury's Taste the difference Jasmine loose leaf tea. Really quenches the thirst, so refreshing, warming, comforting... Whatever you need it for, really!! I ...

Hernaic Tom in Plymouth
Hi Everyone! I'm not certain I have introduced myself properly yet!! My name's Tom and I currently live in Plymouth, Devon and work at The Eden project in Cornwall. I am heading Eastwards in October to start a PhD on Arbuscular Mycorrhizal fungi, and for as long as I can remember, have been interest...

Basil...in all its forms.
I just bought some Greek Basil (Ocimum basilicum 'minimum') from the place where I work (More on that in the intros section in a mo!), as it smells most similar (out of those I have smelled) to the thai holy basil used in Thai cuisine (Ocimum basilicum var. thyrsiflora), sometimes called Kraphao, th...
