Re: Mattresses

I gave a mattress away to a fella who lives in a bus, it was far better than the one he was currently sleeping on and he was chuffed to bits with it.

Re: Frost protection

I have a massive hoodie made from fleece that fits over my tomato plants when I plant them out, it fits over 5 foot high hoops and is double thickness, we made it a few years ago by stapling the fleece together

Re: Wheelbarrow tyre containers

Wheelbarrow tyres are not worth bothering with really, I do use car tyres to grow comfrey in and I am not worried about anything in car tyres, , I think there was a really good thread on here once about tyres, after talking to my neighbour who has a science degree and the thread that was on here onc...

Re: Newbie here :)

I think the best way forward is to approach your local planning department and just ask off the record what is involved in low impact living on a piece of land that you buy, it might be that you can buy a piece of ground with an old or ruined cottage on it which is then considered to be residential....

Re: Newbie here :)

Why not have a weekend out of season in a yurt, that would give you a good idea of what it would be like, or a week, why wouldn't you, there is a place called Pink Apple Orchard and they do camping in Celtic yurts

Re: pruning fruit trees do i need a wound healer ?

I don't use anything to heal trees when I prune, if it is stone fruit you are better off waiting until there are leaves on the trees as the sap heals cuts. You can also give your trees a seeweed feed, you can get some seaweed liquid, dilute as per instructions and spray the trees when they come into...

Re: Newbie here :)

Hiya Bubble. I live in Southern Ireland, up near the border with Enniskillen. This is one of the poorest counties in the country and the least populated. I know lots of people living in caravans, off grid cottages, etc, it seems to attact people that want to live a slightly different lifestyle. Most...
