Re: Rat Catching?

Ta muchly both! Both boys are at the vets on Friday for their yearly boosters, so I'll check then. I thought it might be the Lepto vacc, so at least they have that yearly anyway... In terms of hunting; the boys know that they are not allowed where our birds are, and we've fenced it off. Previously, ...

Rat Catching?

So, my Boxers have just caught their first rat. Completely unintentionally, but I'm very happy I'm rather pleased, as I've noticed rat droppings near my poultry feed bin. The dogs were actually doing their fox-protection bit (wee-ing round the bird runs), rather than on any sort of hunt. Generally, ...

You can use biological washing powder to remove the smell of dog/cat pee....

Re: Advice pls, am I being difficult

I usually do one online supermarket shop a month, for tinned stuff etc... This month, I ran out of stuff and couldn't wait for delivery. I decided to go to the supermarket. OH decided to go with me. Despite the fact that we have an extremely tight budget, and also various food restrictions (he is we...

Re: Am I being a mean Mother?

As a grown-up, you realise that there is a lot you can't do if you haven't got the money.... we haven't been abroad in ages and ages, as we can't afford it. Of course, I don't actually want to go abroad, but in principle, it would be nice to have the option. This year for your jollies, we are campin...

Re: Most hated vegetable Poll

The poll is going much as I would expect, except for beetroot. I was really surprised by its ranking. I would have to put beetroot on my most loved list. I've been put off beetroot because of cheap and nasty pickled beetroot that 'bleeds' over everything... was a favourite of my parents, and I just...

They embed their mouth parts, which are little pincer things I think :pukeright:

At least you've got it out now... just keep an eye on it!

Re: Help tick head stuck in my leg!

Please think about checking yourself out with the local doc... http://www.bada-uk.org/ Incorrect tick removal can result in Lyme Disease/Borreliosis, or other infections. A friend of mine was bitten by a tick in the New Forest last summer, and is still off work now with problems relating to the bite.

Re: ... start making soap (stupid questions)

I used some of my own pans for a while, then bought a couple of cheap non-stick ones just for soaps, but everything else is just normal kitchenware.... I get a lot of my supplies from Fresholi, as far as I know, my shea butter is unrefined. It's just a lovely big lump of the stuff! Be careful though...

Could you mix it with puree-d fruit? Or make it into 'frozen yoghurt' lollies?

Re: fear of mirrors

Can you play mirror games with his teddies/favourite toy? He can sit at the side of the mirror (so he can't see himself) and then put teddy in front of the mirror (peek-a-boo, who's that type stuff etc). It means he is 'controlling' who is in the mirror, rather than seeing people 'appear' in the big...

Re: The price of a life....

Thanks everyone - we've also got pieces in the telegraph online and the daily express Today she is being interviewed by the local BBC and ITV news/reports programmes as well, and we're trying to get onto radio too.... Would like to 'shame' the PCT into paying the £3k, however we're also gearing up f...

The price of a life....

This is from our local paper... the young lady featured in the article is my little sister.

I am currently trying to raise awareness of our problem... in the hope that the PCT will capitulate and offer her the funding she needs.

Re: Thinking about starting with sheep

Are there breeds you can have for both wool and meat? I'd also have to find a local abbatoir willing to slaughter small amounts for me in that case, and a butcher who would either do it for us, or show me what to do... So, we'd need to consider fencing/access if the land needs to be rotated. Realist...
