I'm growing cress on the windowsill on upturned ice cream lids and clear plastic punnet thingies. I keep all sorts of stuff like that for using in the freezer. I keep every single marg pot we ever use and use it when I'm painting small amounts so that I can throw away the marge pot without having to...

I first saw mention of water glass in the John Seymour book. My husband and I both looked at each other and said "do what?", you know what I mean! At the time my parents in law were staying and that started them off .... water glass ...... preserving eggs ........ war time ....... dad used...

I'm in Ille et Vilaine about 30km northish of Rennes in the direction of Mont St Michel. I don't know the rest of Brittany! I know it has some gorgeous beaches but in my department it's just mud flats and oyster beds! Never mind I'm in the countryside which is what I prefer. It certainly is hard wor...

I ordered from Thompson and Morgan because they sell in France too. The good thing is that you can use their website in English but still be ordering in Euros for delivery within France! One thing I noticed though is that you don't get many seeds in a packet. I always get tons of seeds in the packet...

I'm growing it at the moment but in the past I've never had much luck. Whenever I tried it in a hot dry climate I got about 4 pathetic leaves and then it went to seed. When I was in London I used to grow it in pots but it didn't do very well like that either. Right now my plants have about 4 little ...

I remember chokos from when I was backpacking around Australia. Had to try one to see what it was like. A bit bland on its own but it was fine in a stir fry. They must have been cheap because I bought them several times. I've even seen them in France in the "tropical" section but didn't bo...

Hi again - first of all, call me MMM, everyone else does on other forums! I've got fruit trees everywhere, not just in the orchard! Peaches and apricots which were a surprise. No fruit on the apricots sadly but I can see little peaches forming. Cherries, plums, apples, possibly pears but I'm not sur...

Bonjour from Brittany

Hello everyone Thought I'd jump in and register and say hello before I've even spent much time lurking. I've read bits and bobs on the site enough to know I like it and want to join in! We've (hubby and I) been living in Brittany for nearly a year now and before that the other side of France for 7 y...
