Re: Knighthood?
I don't think Perry was. I agree with you. I'm not saying sports stars shouldn't be considered for knighthoods, but they should contribute more to people's lives than just doing what they're supposed to do (i.e. winning a tournament) however much that excites the fans. Sadly MBEs seem to be as meani...

Re: Homemade Sausage/Burger Recipes
I also use sage for my home made sausages and find that if you finely chop some apple, white onion and little 'crumbs' of blue cheese (and the sage, of course), you get a really nice sausage. Recently I made some pork sausages (I usually use about 66% pork belly and 33% shoulder) with chopped spring...

Re: The difference a bigger kitchen can make
I'd love a big kitchen. I actually have three kitchen, but all quite small. One is more for eating but has a wood stove in it to keep it warm in winter and cook stews and soups on. I can pull the table out and squeeze six people around it, but that would fill the room up. It's cosy in the winter. Th...

Re: How do I make sweet fizzy cider?
'Real Cidermaking on a Small Scale' has some good info on how to get different finishes if you can find a copy. It's a few pages long with a few diagrams otherwise I'd copy it out here, but feel free to PM me an email address and I'll happily scan the relevant pages for you. Essentially it just invo...

Re: Well, well Well (and a pump)
You can pick up cheapo submersible pumps for about 50 Euro these days in most of the larger DIY type stores like Bricostore or Praktiker (or whatever you have over the border there). You just want to check the depth of the water in the well and calculate the height you'll be drawing the water throug...

Re: Bird song
The great tits in my garden are the most aggressive and sit on the grape vines machine gunning me with shrill tchk tchk tchk-es every time I step out the kitchen door. They've now been dubbed the Angry Birds, although I've yet to catch one and try catapulting it up at the castle on the hill. The nut...

Re: Do you believe in decreasing your consumption?
I also agree with most of the above comments and also gave up half-way through because I simply couldn't answer the questions. I haven't bought a convenience meal in decades, except the odd take away, which I suppose counts but isn't quite what you mean here. I also got the sensation that the survey...

Re: Kitchen spam
Rather than having to go through the tedious task of deleting the spam on a daily basis, why don't we all just post negative reviews of the products in replies to the posts. The potentially damaging effect of some many negative reviews whenever a genuinely interested customer googles the spammer in ...

Re: How do i find my dream place?
Doesn't a lot of it come down to the dreaded "M" word-----money and how much or little you have? Pete I don't know, I've know some terribly rich so-and-sos in my time and most of them were miserable sods. Someone once told me, take a miserable person, give them a lottery win, and they'll ...

Re: FREE THE WEST MEMPHIS THREE!
I watched the first two documentaries a couple of years ago and the final part a few months ago and agree it's a fascinating story. Certainly, when watching the documentaries, you can't help but conclude that the WM3 are innocent although after the first two, I was still aware that the documentaries...

Re: Help no broadband......
At my country house I have no internet (and no TV, no indoor plumbing, no telephone except my mobile). I love it when I stay up there for a week as I get so much done. I'm sure if I had net there, I'd waste most of my time faffing about online instead of digging and building. Often I'm up there alon...

It's frequently used here to make a kind of syrup and is supposed to be packed with vit C. Considering the harshness of the winter here, I imagine it's pretty frost resistant.
