Orchid in a jar?
I bought some reduced price moth orchids yesterday and I'd like to remove one from the plastic orchid pot and put it in a jar, much like this shape and size http://www.amazon.co.uk/165/dp/B00F460WCQ/ref=zg_bs_360051031_14/279-5431123-6078327. The neck of the jar is a bit narrower than the clump of r...

Cut flower germs
How unhygienic are cut flowers from a garden - what sort of mould, fungi, etc. are on them? I was wondering if there was a source of this sort of information somewhere online.

Bulbs
I bought three bags of bulbs a couple or three months ago. One of tulip, one of mixed daffs and one of snowdrops. I came across them the other day (in the shed) and the tulip and daffodil bulbs had started sprouting, but not the snowdrops, which didn't feel that plump. Will they still grow? Were the...

Re: Sloppy potatoes
Are you growing them from seed potatoes or sprouting potatoes from the kitchen? I've just put some of the latter type in but I've heard that you shouldn't, although I've also heard that others manage to do so successfully. I don't know what the problem is with the ones that advise not to do it.

Old seeds
Someone gave me some seeds, some packets were open, that are a year or two out of date. How likely is it that they will still grow?

Re: frost-free fridge freezer forming frost!
A couple of years. I decided to unplug it and defrost it with hot water and dislodging loose ice. I hope it hasn't done any damage!

frost-free fridge freezer forming frost!
I've got a Bush(I think it's BSFF50144) fridge freezer, which is meant to be frost-free. A good bit of snowy frost has formed at the top of the freezer (the fridge part is uppermost) over the freezer tray. If anyone has got one of these, can you tell me what the problem is and how to defrost it safe...

Email etiquette
I work somewhere, so does a relatively new member of staff. Another company involved with us sent one email message addressed to both of us, not just the email address showing, but also including us both in the greeting, Dear AB and CD. Neither of us works in the office environment so we wouldn't ot...

Re: Philodendron
The tub needs topping up a bit, could I just add orchid bark to it? I was wondering if it would help to mix in some sphagnum moss to help retain moisture between the bark chips.

Philodendron
I've taken on a philodendron that needs to be rewound around the moss stick - do they go round a particular way or can I do it either way, and are extensions to the moss stick sold or will I have to improvise? Also, any other tips would be appreciated. It's what I would call quite long and in a larg...

Re: Breadcrumb cake recipe wanted
No, it's more of a sponge cake I'm thinking of - even if it was half flour and half breadcrumbs.

Re: Telly radio
I never really understood that either - exactly how much telly can someone watch that they need more channels and how important can they be that they feel that have to pay for them rather than make the most of all the free ones? Anyway, I'm satisfied with the selection that Freeview has to offer. I ...
