Re: Any legal eagles on here for a general opinion?

Hi Graye, who is telling you that you should have "formal permission" for the improvements? If you spoke to the council at the time, then, surely a verbal affirmation is legally binding? Don't know too much about the listing thing, but i would have thought that if you have improved the pro...

Re: nettle fertiliser

Nettle "broth" is excellent on tomatos, runners & probably most veg........ but don't do what i did & put it on your strawberries, as it seemed to seriously harm the plants. They've recovered now, but way too late for this year.

Re: Alzheimer.

Hi Eddy, a friend of mine is on medication for the same reason as yourself. However, because of the side-effects of the medication, his driving licence has been cancelled by DVLA, so be prepared. (sorry, i don't know what medication he's on but i can find out if you wish). Andrew.

Re: Rain at last

We are now enjoying a good steady downfall for the first time in nearly 3 months, it's been going for the last 2 hours & if it keeps going for the next 48, it would really do some good!

Re: rumtopf

I agree with Susie, also a straight-forward fruit salad with cream can be a bit interesting! Any soft summer fruit will do, just bung it in the pot as it comes into season. Add a little sugar & keep topping up the alcohol. By the end of the year it will be about ready. If you have any leftovers,...

Re: Can I buy red diesel for my smallholding use ??

Don't see why people are looking to do illegal stuff while us legal people are paying our way. However, going back to the question, using red on site is perfectly o.k. as long as it is private land and, therefore, not subject to Highways Regulations. Agricultural vehicles and registered "plant&...

Re: set up a rainwater collection system off my shed roof?

Just a thought...... if the overhanging roof is of a sturdy enough material, could you drill/pierce holes in the ends, then fashion some brackets using wire coat-hangers (these are surprisingly tensile), for the guttering to lay in?

Re: blackcurrant bush

Blackcurrants and nearly all other "soft" fruits prefer an acidic soil. Coal soot is good for this, but it has to be left to "mature" for a month or two, before use.
