Re: My cats been bitten
One of my cats was bitten by a dog and got an infection on his spine. He became paralyzed and the vet said he would die but showed me how to help him urinate (pressing his tummy) and to feed soft food, you get the picture. I insisted on cheap antibiotics that cross the blood-brain barrier because th...

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?
This is still a problem for me though, why should the baby be covered with a towel? I am not saying fling your boobs all over the place, but surely part of breast feeding is bonding with the baby, how can the baby and you bond if it can't even see you with it's head stuck under a towel? I have made ...

Re: two sick chicks
I've had similiar problems in years past. Sometimes they get better, others they don't. There doesn't seem to be any reason or cure. I wish I could help, but I'd like to know too.

Re: Bought a mooncup!!
Someone, somewhere up there on the thread said something about trying a mooncup at the end of a cycle when they don't need much. Don't be afraid to take the plunge. Imagine the most absorbent pad you can find, usually the huge nighttime pads most women buy one package a year of. Now imagine the most...

Re: Breast feeding, socially unacceptable or not?
I haven't read all the posts, sorry if I'm repeating. There is a Mennonite (sect of the Amish) community not far from here. Every so often you see a young mother with what appears to be a giant baby bib tied around her neck. Protruding from beneath are tiny little feet. These are some of the most mo...

Re: Bought a mooncup!!
My uterus was my greatest enemy.
I found the diasy cup and then the angels sang and light shone down and I was freed!
Then I had my inner workings fixed and discovered what a 'normal' cycle is.
I think every girl should recieve one at her first papsmear.

Re: my pigs
I'm going to be moronic/obnoxious. How, exactly, do you cure your sausages, make black puddings, and brawn? I'm tired of the same old sausages, never made a decent black pudding, and well...won't go there.
Re: my pigs
Ham any day here. I'd brine the whole pig if it would fit!

Re: very stubborn toddler
crowsashes, I was a VERY young mother back then and didn't really understand the boundaries thing. He is still a boundary pusher. I hate spanking, but if timeout doesn't work, you can't reason with them, or they are endangering their lives (running out in the street in front of cars and then telling...
Re: my pigs
I have found that my hams cure better if I cut them into smaller pieces. I take off the hock, and then cut the hams in two. We brine for 10 days, dry for 3, smoke for 7. This is supposed to work for whole hams, but they were disappointing. How do you cure your hams? I mean, what type of cure is popu...

Re: Dachshund help please
I expect the occasional accident. I even understand when they just don't want to go out in the rain or snow. But this dog makes no effort. We have tried scheduled outings, leaving her in a portable kennel, and putting all her poop where we want her to poop. Nothing works. She is otherwise a great li...

Re: very stubborn toddler
I had one that did the same thing. It was a little eerie reading your post. He would throw his head back and scream the shrillest noise you have ever heard, throw himself from side to side untill the stroller tipped over if I didn't catch it, bite, pull his brothers' hair, and throw things. He looke...

Dachshund help please
I have a dachshund that refuses to be house broken. I have had others and knew when I got her that dashies can be very stubborn about this sort of thing, but they all sorted it out when they matured and decided pooping in the den wasn't what grownup dogs do. In fact, an elderly dashie did the houseb...

Re: piece quilting
A denim kilt, were you otherwise traditional, was it windy that day?
Wind or no wind, I don't blame her about not going out shopping. I'd rather see the dentist.
Duh...I hadn't even thought of a shoulder bag or satchel. Fantastic!
