Re: The Cider Journey - Creating a new local drink!
Casper, firstly best wishes for your project.Should you need inspiration, pop down this way(Tenbury) there are several small cider producers(and quite a few large ones). We have more orchards than anywhere in the known universe,(I've got 23 apple trees in my back garden),any prob getting interesting / ...

Re: New Project :-)
Blimey, what a hornet's nest.Great thread 'though. My kids have had the same sort of experience as Boboff's,but does that mean that others from a different environment, and with different life experiences would be OK with it? I simply don't know. Even a couple of years back,I'd have said ''all kids sh...

Re: Rhubarb recipes ?
Stew 'till soft, add some sugar but leave it still quite tart,Blitz 'till smooth, serve as a sauce over baked mackerel or similar oily fish(fresh sardines if you can get them.) Lovely.

Re: Raw milk in Scotland
I'm not certain it's that easy.We never had to deliver our excess milk at all.People who came for it(strictly for pet's use,of course) often came from miles. One lady came from Dudley(at least 30 miles). The upside is goat milk freezes really well,so if you can find a source, have transport, and one of ...

It is legal in England (not sure 'bout Scottieland) to sell raw goat milk so long as it's for pets................................(perhaps the dog could spare a bit).....................

Re: Raw milk in Scotland
Seriously, have you thought about keeping a couple of goats yourself? Look at my old posts on this (ad bloody nauseum) you really don't need anything more than a decent garden..pm me, if you can stand the tedium.

Re: tasty chicken breeds
I'll have a go at this. Firstly, you're absolutely right, what they eat is a huge factor in how they turn out,so don't completely swerve the standard white hybrid birds, they can be kept free range, they will still finish quite quickly, and we sold many of these (all pre ordered) in our small holding day...

I've had similar experiences with some rooted Philadelphus that I thought were sufficiently hardened off. There have been 4 or 5 days here recently which although the temp never dropped much below 7 or 8C,there has been a seriously, and for early May,unusually cold wind.....that's where I'd put my mon...
