Re: How do i prevent Wasps and spiders from getting in my ho

The daddy long leg ones def don't have strong enough jaws to pierce human skin, just very strong poison, I checked that before inviting them in! As a general rule (there are occasional exceptions) its usually down to jaw size. If you see anything where you can visably see them knashing then its poss...

Re: How do i prevent Wasps and spiders from getting in my ho

Honestly MMM, it really seems to work, when I moved last winter my house had a few resident 'big hairy nastys' and the spiders I brought with me (along with the ones that hitch-hiked in my moving boxes) took about 2 weeks to clean house! They have formed a veritable colony now and are very polite ho...

Re: How do i prevent Wasps and spiders from getting in my ho

If you are like me and dislike the big hairy house spiders but don't mind the spindley 'daddy long leg' spiders then get a few of those in, apparently they are the most viscious type and will kill all other bugs in your house, including the more scary looking house spiders! When I move I tend to tak...

Anyone tried Stockholm tar?

I have heard it is good to use on chickens who are being plucked to make them heal up quickly but also to prevent further plucking.

Anyone had any experience of this? Does it work to prevent plucking? I only have two but the mean one is plucking the victimey one. :(

Re: Elderberry Juice

I agree that the Elderberry cordial is a good winter fortifier, I rarely get colds in the winter anymore and if I do get poorly it is a wonderful comfort drink. I can't find my recipe but the key point which makes it a bit easier than other elderberry recipes is that you stew the stalks for extra fl...

Re: Where do I start with my veggie patch

If you are interested in a quick crop a lot of garden centers are selling off their veg plants (eg courgettes) at the moment for a fraction of their origional cost. I don't have any space to jam them in but would be very tempted if I had the room. Otherwise I usually buy seeds from the real seed cat...

Pepper problems

My peppers were doing very well in their little green house with the aubs, they flowered and started fruiting so I started feeding and all was looking fine until I went out yesterday and noticed all the freaking fruit had just dropped off :angryfire: The plants look fine, no sign of any disease or p...

Re: Learn to fish?

I'm not an angler myself but am sure there are plenty of people who can help. Also tackle shops are a great source of info though I would go for a beginners rig and work from there. Out of interest are you looking to fish to eat? If so its worth being careful about what and where you catch. Certain ...
